Ok i love my 9mm SUB2000, but looking for some thing in a 45 ACP. 45 ACP for the over the counter sub-sonic ammo to be suppressed. Im thinking out loud here. Blow back action (ala Sub2k) Use SGM 45acp magz, 27rds or the KRISS magz ext on the G21 factory magz

What is yall's opinion?

There are just not many 45acp semi auto carbines manufactured. The magazine size is large and doesn't fit many of the popular current receivers like the AR15 or MP5.

Other than the KRISS you mentioned the MAC10 style guns are still made along with some specialty AR's in 45acp like Olympic Arms. The long discontinued Marlin Camp Carbine comes to mind but the recoil spring & buffer require attention.

The problem I see with blowback guns and a can is very rapid fouling, man they get dirty fast. Hell even the MP5 when suppressed is a nasty mess after a mag or 2 and its a roller locked action. The other thing to consider is bolt weight or mass, the MAC10 bolt is pretty heavy which creates a lot of inertia as the gun is fired and moves the gun around.

The 9mm guns don't suffer (as much) from this bolt mass issue and in the AR platform hydraulic buffers will smooth things out. I enjoy the 45 cal guns but shoot more suppressed 9 mm and I think a 9 sounds better than a 45 when suppressed or at least it's easier to suppress well vs a 45acp. There seems to be an endless variety of quality cans available for the 9mm as opposed to only a couple of top tier cans that work well in 45acp. So you'll spend more money to suppress that 45 over a 9.

Personally I'd look at the new Sig MPX in 9mm once released it should be the ticket with a can!

Tkx for the info Clicker. Id love one of those KRISS vectors, but they wont be importing the one with the ability to change to 9mm and 45acp. Hmm just looked at the Sig MPX interesting....

Wow I forgot about those, they're pretty cool although the removal of the stock in order to pull the BCG kinda sucks. Probably no worse than breaking down a 10/22 tho.
Caliber conversions are a plus and the price is not too outrageous certainly better than HK clones! You'd have to do it as a SBR if you're adding a can.

Isn't there a version of the Beretta Cx4 Storm that coems in .45? Also there's the modern semi-auto rendition ot the Thompson...

I have an HK USC carbine. I converted it to the ump clone to hold 25 rounds and make a special ammo for it. I can shoot 45 185 gr hp 100 yes easily and accurately. I will be working the show tomorrow and it I have enough time , I can bring it to look at. It is not for sale, but will need to know.

Hi-Point finally got around to making one but it uses proprietary mags. I would buy one if it used 1911 magazines.
