IF YOU LIVE IN OKLAHOMA AND ARE NOT REGISTERED TO VOTE, THE DEADLINE TO MAIL IN YOUR REGISTRATION IN ORDER TO VOTE IN THIS NEXT ELECTION IS THIS FRIDAY, OCTOBER 12TH.

NOTE THAT IF YOU HAVE MOVED SINCE YOU LAST REGISTERED, OR IF YOUR NAME HAS CHANGED, YOU NEED TO REGISTER AGAIN.

VOTER REGISTRATION FORMS ARE AVAILABLE AT YOUR LOCAL ELECTION BOARD OFFICE, POST OFFICE, PUBLIC LIBRARY, TAG AGENCY, AND CAN BE DOWNLOADED AT THE OKLAHOMA ELECTION BOARD WEBSITE.

Seriously though. While it's easy to believe that your vote for President doesn't matter (it doesn't, OK is going red no matter what you do), keep in mind that you also need to elect a US House representative, state House representative, state Senator, and also vote on 6 proposed amendments to the state constitution.

Even though people don't really pay attention to them, state legislators are important. Want to amend the OK SDA so that we have Constitutional carry? Want to pull OK's education system out of the crapper? They're the ones who are going to do that.

Also you need to re-register in order to change your political affiliation but since this isn't a primary election it really doesn't matter what your affiliation is.

Anyone have some links on who is running for the state offices and what legislation will be voted on

AFAIK the only state offices on this ballot will be State House and State Senate. If you don't know which Senate district you're in, look here. If you don't know which House district you're about to be in, look here. The deal is that the new House district lines will take effect on election day, so you'll be voting for the rep for the district that you will be in not the district that you're in now. (E: Keep in mind that they might be the same)

There's also a retention vote for various OK judges but I don't know anything about them.

Also keep in mind that Oklahoma's state senate does this weird thing where senators from odd-numbered districts come up for election in even years that are divisible by 4 (presidential election years), and even numbered districts come up for a vote in even years NOT divisible by 4 (gubernatorial election years) so if you live in an even-numbered district you're not voting for state senate.

Today I learned about the League of Women Voters' website Vote411.org.

If you put in your address it will tell you who all you're voting for. It also includes information on the judges that are coming up for retention votes, and it's one of the few places with that information.

it was from a parody account, but funny none the less.

Voted. Took all of about 35 minutes. My wife went earlier and it took her about 45 minutes to an hour. Fairly long line out the door all day long, I was pretty surprised. I figured it would be considerably less after the lunch crowd went through.
