The Rem varmint is a good choice if carry will be in it's future. I know some of my rifles I'wish I'd have gone with a lighter barrel! BUT since they were heavy I just built a strictly hunting rile LOL Later,

Rem varmit is as heavy as i would go also , have done the bigger and suck real fast if you have to carry it......Alot of info to be had on snipershide, and alot of BS....I have had alot of Different rifles built and Jon Beanland is my choice........you see some of his work here.....http://www.boomersho...8792-long-guns/

the grey rifle with twisted barrel and the purple rifle with twisted barrel surgeon action and rem varmit for reference are beanlands, and a few of jasons

Go 300WSM. It is more efficient and the weight savings of a short action can be used on a longer barrel.
