Let the arguing begin

I run the EOTech 516 on one carbine and just bought the EXPS 3-1 for the other. Both have the circle and the single dot. I also have the G23 magnifier with the quick throw release that can be carried and added as needed.

I decided on the EOTech after talking to some of the guys in 2-75 about why their Batt went with that set up (EXPS 3-1 + G23) and the torture tests that they came up with for selecting sights. The Aimpoint was pretty close, but the EOTech won.

I'm set up less for competition than I am for other tasks, but I'm hoping to be back in OK for the Oct 3-gun match and will use my normal setup. I guess thats one of the reasons I get timed with a sundial.

Ok question for you Eotech guys, is there anything wrong with one of the older AA models? I know the 123 battereis are better but would I get hurt going with an AA model? I think I'm just going to go with a circle dot and call it good. I don't really care the cost or if it's the newest tacticool item I'm just looking for things that WORK! I know that this 3 gun stuff can get expenssive but I don't need to start a second mortgage I just want good stuff that works. Give me your thoughts guys. Later,

Kirk

It might weigh a little more since it's a longer sight due to the space needed for batteries and battery life may be shorter, but I don't really know from personal experience, someone with experience with the AA models will hopefully chime in.
I do know that in the past 2 years that I've been using my model 516 with 123 batteries, I haven't had to change out a single one yet. But now that I've mentioned it, I'll have to change the batteries tomorrow I'm sure.

How many aimpoints vs eotechs do you typically see out in the matches. Seems like most run eotechs. I personally prefer the eotech reticle. I have an aimpoint pro on one of my AR's right now and am getting used to it, but there's something magical about the 65 moa circle around the 1moa dot...

I'm with you on the 65 moa circle. I've found that for me it's real quick to put that circle around the target for a quick shot and if I need to be more precise then I'll move to the dot.

I have a Primary Arms M3 clone on my other rifle and it's pretty quick, but I'm just a little quicker with the Eotech.

I havnt got a chance to shoot any quality red dot sights, but for me I perfer my Irons, I shoot the action rifle match at USSA and the irons are always plenty for that, until they make us shoot left handed, then Im in trouble. I would like to try an EOtech, but they are just so pricey.
