Thinking about a new 1911 for uspsa, idpa.
Les baer premier II , a wilson or STI trojan?
I've always thought a baer would have a big cool factor, even a Ed Brown would be a keeper for a long time.

Why you guys like the Sti better? I know nothing about 1911 except how to shoot them lol

i had a trojan and loved the way the fit and finsih was I also had a wilson combat that was equally impressive. in the end i sold them and bought a springfield range officer and had my gunsmith rework the trigger. I don't regret selling either of the 1911's i owned before this one.

+1 on the Baer.
he doesn't get fancy or try to over do it, but his stuff works and works well (1.5" at 50 on certain models). His pistols shoot better than most people can squeeze a trigger.

I like my Baer. My only complaint is that for the first 400 rounds or so working the action is a pain.

Internet scuttlebutt has told me that Les Baers are the best 1911s there are, that Les Baers are horribly fit and overpriced, that Wilson guns are seriously overpriced for what you get, that Wilson guns are the best, and that both Wilson and Baer suck and you should get an Ed Brown.

E: Oh also the stock Baer mag is a crappy knockoff of Wilson mags. Use it for dryfire or something.

ask our buddy Eric over at 2nd amendment in Tulsa about Ed Brown 1911's. He's only a IDPA distinguished master in CDP. This is one of the very few times Ive turned hearsay into policy.

I'm not unhappy with any of the 1911's I've got now, I just would like something new to play with. Even my kimber custom I has never failed and is way more accurate than myself. I would say that my colt trophy gold cup 70 series is the best shooting hand gun I own so far.
