Lead bullet recommendations?

I'm looking for lead 9mm's in 125-135gr.

I've not had good luck with lead.
Local sources have nice hard, expensive ones, I can buy plated for not much more.
Or super soft gooey ones that smoke like crazy (so soft I can gouge them with my fingernail)

So, a decent hard bullet for a decent shipped price? Preferably with online ordering.

Thanks.

I've only used their .40 caliber bullets but I've had good luck so far with Bear Creek. They're moly coated lead. They don't do online ordering but you can call them at 209-874-4322.

BBI has been a good source for me, along with Precision bullets out of Kemp, TX
BBI, the company, sucks. BBI used to be my favorite bullet. But they wont sell their 135gr bullet (which is exactly what I wanted) to me.
Its "exclusive" to Automatic Accuracy. Pretty crappy way to exclude a customer. It'll be a cold day in hell before I shoot a BBI again.

Give Mitch a call at J&K. He is doing some moly coated and I had better luck with accuracy and less smoke even than the BBI's.

There was some forums drama a while ago and posts with

in them tend to get edited or deleted, as if by magic. Which is a shame, because I've loaded a ton of his bullets and they work great and he ships fast and they're cheap and supporting local businesses gives me patriotic warm fuzzies.

I got some bullets from S&S Casting recently but I haven't loaded them yet. I'll submit a trip report when I've shot a few of them. However, I tend to think of most bullet casters' products as fungible.

I've loaded some bullets from Missouri Bullet Company too and they were also pretty good, comparable to

.

Tip:
No matter what lead bullet you buy don't store them in a shop that might get to some really high temps.

I lost 1K rounds when the wax melted out of the lube ring.

Yah, I try and stay away from forum drama. Mitch is a good guy and his product is solid. His new moly coated bullets are probably the best I have shot in the short 10 years playing the game.

Antichrome - I will bring you a couple hundred to A4 for you to load up.

You can resize/lube them or you could mix up some of the old school LLA/JPW tumble lube. I have a batch of old gas checked SWCs that I need to do this to.

I like Missouri Bullets. They do a great job of explaining optimum bullet hardness, how to calculate the optimum Brinell Hardness for your particular load, why harder isn't always better, despite what she said, and they offer bullets of different hardness. Their "technical page" is definitely worth a read.

I gave up on lead a while ago. The price difference between lead and plated got a little to narrow for me to deal with all the smoke and extra cleaning. Maybe i've become a bullet snob, but an extra 10 bucks per 500 and i'm just gonna run the shiny stuff.
IMHO

I don't have a lube setup to reset the wax.
Not familiar with the tumble lube.

Guys, just to give you a heads up, if you will give me a chance, I will try to match if not beat your cast bullet bulk prices if you do a special order with me. You can give me a call or pm me, but a text or call is better as I can't always remember to check in for pm's.
I'd love to keep the business local.

Local price is $58K for soft gooey smokey lead. $72 for pretty good hard lead.

I was hoping for something in the $60-$70 range that was reasonably hard and 135g.

I've tried most of the bullets recommended here. The ones that performed werent any cheaper than the plated that I use now.
Guess I'll stick with plated.

BTW, I've used the Precision Black Bullets, they were great. More expensive than plated though.
I'd buy Bayou Bullets if he had online ordering.
