larue mount question

got vortex razor for 3 gun, was going to get larue spr-e but then i tried the spr-e and spr this weekend and realized the spr is a better fit for me. so i got the buy the spr and i see on larues website that have a spr-s as well... it mounts the centerline of the 1.44 vs spr at 1.5.... somebody please explain the purpose of that to me... im sure lower is better but why would larue make a mount .06 lower??

Not a fan of Mark LaRue. You should get an ADM Vortex Recon mount with a 2" offset. TISC556 will save you 5% on them at Optics Planet.

if you haven't bought yet you may want to look at the new samson mount. It comes in a 2 inch offset. I have not handled one yet but it looks solid.

I played with the Samson mounts at SHOT. Very nice. And they support 3-gun unlike LaRue who quit supporting it.

Go read his posts and rants on ARFCOM. Unless you bow down to him and kiss his feet him and his disciples are complete A Holes. I won't own anything LaRue as a result of his behavior and his lack of support for 3-gun. He used to be a big player in 3-gun but dumped the game. There are too many companies that do support 3-gun for me to waste money with someone who doesn't if I have a choice.

I'll throw a 3rd out there for the Samson mounts. I haven't handled one directly yet, but will shortly. I am ditching my LaRue for the Samson mounts.

I have a Samson DMR 3" offest on the way in for my Optics rifle. The return to zero feature looks promising.

I'm almost sure from what I seen the price will be $200 or less depending on the offset and the lead time on these will be very short. If you want a great product that don't brake the bank I think this will be the real deal.

I don't get the Larue hate. His products plane work, end of story. Do I care if he is thought by some, to be an asshole? Nope, I am sure if you take a poll some would say the same about me. This post is full of people all but one haven't even fondled the new unobtanium from Samson but are singing its praises as the next thing since sliced bread. They look cool with all those holes, but appear a couple of ounces heavier than the Larue. That and they aren't verticle split rings which aren't all that fun to mount sometimes are about all I can glean from the photo and limited info on their website.

I had owned a couple Larue's and would recommend them when someone was looking for a mount. During the spat, Mark posted a picture of the other party's wife (who was never involved and should have never been involved the crap storm). That was a classless move. I immediately removed my last larue from service and sold it. I will never support or recommend them again.

The Army is dumping them because hi speed video shows they move during recoil. He's gonna be a lot nicer of a guy soon. Did I mention vortex and Samson still support 3-gun and 3-gunners?
