I see alot of you guys use KNS pins. I have had many ARs, but never used them. Keep in mind, I am just a plinker.
Is this something I should put in my ARs? What is the main reason for them? Thanks guys. Rick

It's mainly for the blowback operated AR's like 9mm. I haven't seen it myself, but I've heard that the blowback guns will eventually jar the pins around enough to be able to enlarge the holes they're supposed to stay in.
I have a set on my 9mm AR just in case and I'll probably put them on my .22 AR when I get it built.

Some people just put them on for looks.

Yes, they are anti-walk pins. They keep the pins from rolling in the hole which could eventually enlarge the hole. Once the hole is enlarged, the fire control components could potentially move & wiggle causing misfires, AD's, doubling, etc...

JP makes anti-walk pins as well but they don't have the link between the trigger & hammer pins like the KNS. I use anti-walk pins on all of mine.

Dennis, did you get JP or KNS? The 2 set of KNS pins I've bought have been an easy replacement for the standard pins, no modification needed.

If you are using a Geissele trigger, they (Geissele) recommend only using their proprietary pins. They are precision ground to fit the trigger/hammer correctly.

Any set of nice pins like the JP or the KNS will work just fine. I used to be a big fan of the JP until I tried a set of KNS. KNS will go in all of my future builds.

I always buy JP pins for all my guns because they sponsor a lot of matches and replaced my upper after I blew it up.

I have kns pins in my atas AR and JP oversized in my comp AR. I prefer ther JP myself

Don't get me wrong guys, JP are great. The fit is so tight and precise, I love it. I just had one of the screws on the end back out on me once. I know they had a recall for that issue and they replaced them for me free. I just wish they didn't rotate. If JP would come out with some kind of connector bar to keep them from spinning that would end all discussion, because otherwise they are the best pins out there.

I use loctite.

I use KNS pins with my Geissele S3G trigger and hammer. No issues for me. Yet. I've only put about 1,000 rounds through it set up that way tho.

they seem to do the job too. i work with a guy that claims his gun was double firing. told him to try the pins and he says its gtg ever since
