I'm putting this in as a placeholder for a full review of this gun. Kimber Stainless II Target 9mm, pictured below with my customized Kimber Stainless II Target Long Slide in 45.

I meant to test this gun for function earlier but I missed it when I tested the other 9mm gun. I am going in depth with this review because a couple years ago, I completely destroyed Kimber over the poor quality of the 10mm version of this gun. I bought 4, 2 wouldn't chamber a single round out of the box, all 4 went back to Kimber, 2 of them twice.
The 45 ACP offerings I have had zero problems with, so this review will be carefully done. I have high hopes as I've had many 9mm Kimber 1911s and I've enjoyed each of them as they have been great from the start. I expect no different from this.
After it's been tested and reviewed, I intend to (assuming the grips I bought will allow) upgrade the mainspring housing with an integrated magwell.
The grips I bought are Altamont leather grips, pictured below. The alligator leather on my long slide is up to $165, these were $65. These are not magwell cut but the mainspring housing I put on my Dan Wesson wasn't as wide as the one pictured above. I may be able to find one similar z as nd make it work.
In my experience, Altamont grips are hit and miss in terms of quality of workmanship so we will see if it's worth the effort.
