I am trying to develop a history of the use of the Ketland rifles by the South during the War Between the States. I know that the rifle was a very limited production and in many cases were custom made for the user. However, I am wondering if anyone knows of their use in the War?

Hmm, never heard about them before but I would love to hear about them now! Anybody got any info on them?
Ketland rifles were originally made in Britain. Two of the sons came to America and began making the rifles, but also were making a vast number of lock mechanisms for a number of rifles. The British used the rifles in the U.S., Canada, and India.

Here's some info about Ketland but so far I haven't found anything definitive to connect them to the CSA.

Seems like it's entirely possible that they were used by Confederate soldiers, but if so then they were commercial weapons purchased by individuals I think.
