Hey there folks, I am just looking to start shooting some 3 gun competitions here in NoDak. My background is shooting air rifle and smallbore growing up. I want to use the existing guns that I have to start but could use some pointers in the way of belts, mag holders, shot holders etc. Any help would be much appreciated!

Here is the weapons I am planning on using, thoughts?

-Benelli SuperNova Tactical
-Sig M11A1 228 9mm
-Sig 516 .223

Get a good 2pc Velcro belt for sure. A CR speed is what I use and I also use their pistol mag pouches. A good belt is a good foundation for the rest. I love my invictus practical 2.8 shell caddies and they are also a forum sponsor. I have a bag full of other caddies and I suggest you ask at local matches and I bet others have extras as well for you to try. It's best to try before you buy for 3gun as it can be a gear hungry game of you let it be.

Go to a match and borrow. I honestly believe you could show up to any 3 gun match with a great attitude and a little cash to offer people (most won't take it) and you could borrow everything needed to compete. Guns included.

Agreed! Have a little $$ to offer and/or show up with some factory ammo and you will get offered whatever else you need. The shooting sports have some of the best people. I heard it said something like,,,,,, this isnt golf where a guy would think your a fool for asking to borrow his $300 putter. This is competitive shooting where most are glad to let you run their $2500 or $4000+ pistols and do what they can to grow the sport and bring in new shooters.

Well having the belt with pistol and mag pouches (but you can reload from cargo pants pocket if necessary) would be recommended but everything else would be easily borrowed.

Honestly the best thing you can do is just hit up your local gun clubs/matches and get out there and shoot. I shoot my first match last year with a borrowed m3k and digging shells and mags out of my pockets I came damn near dead last but loved every minute of it. You really won't get a feel for what you need till you shoot your first match and get to tinker with other people's set ups the guns you have are more then enough to go out and have some fun with. I tried out a few other guys caddies before buying my invictus practical 12qs and got a cr speed belt. Its best to give others gear a try and then buy your own so you don't feel like you wasted money on a setup that worked for this guy or that guy just to find out your hands can't grip the shells or your pistol falls out of your holster ect.

I actually bring an extra belt and pistol with me as a back up, and have let people use them in matches. I have also let people use my rifle and shotgun many times. Especially the shotgun. Lots of people want to try out the XRailed shotgun.
