Join or Not

Do you need to join USPSA,IPDA or other shooting groups as members? What does it do for you?

You should join if you plan on shooting much. It allows you to be classified. Also supports the sport in general.

Once you want to shoot a bigger match like a state sectional (championship) or area (regional championship) match, you have to be a member.

If you travel much and want to shoot some local matches at clubs you have never been to, having that current classification provides assurance to the match organizers that you know what you are doing. It may save you from having to attend their safety orientation for newbies.

Lol! Have u actually had to show your credentials at a new match to avoid the safety briefing?

Technically you have to join IDPA to shoot club matches after your first one but I don't think that rule is ever enforced.

No, but that would be kind of funny....

The point I was trying to make was that, if you are outside your normal stomping grounds, (because your wife wanted to visit her cousins, halfway across the country, and you found a local club that is hosting a match while you are "out visiting") being classified makes it easier to fit in.

It's not about knowing what you're doing ( Hell, even Feegee's got a jersey ), It's spreading the word & winning prizes.

I will never know what I'm doing or why I'm doing it but having a jersey got me on the adult table at Twin Peaks after the match. Well worth it.
