Is ArmsList full of trolls?

So I received an e-mail from an individual looking to purchase magazines for a firearm I listed, when told that the gun was sold but I have 4 mags left, he basically demanded I send him the magazines, then he'd send funds. Obviously I wasn't born yesterday and would never agree to it. Now he won't leave me alone and is defaming my character. Has anyone dealt with a Rich Hagen, [email protected] in the past?

I just scanned my e-mail and turns out he is the same individual that claimed he could find my mags for $50 apiece and that's what he offered me. I turned him down and he came back with all the threats and expletives.

I have forwarded all mails to [email protected] and the atf as I'm not sure this guy is mentally sound or fit to possess firearms.

armslist is such a gamble. half the ad's say "dont have to sell it...."

well then...dont' list it!!!

yes, the few deals I have completed on there have been fairly weird. one local guy has had the same gun on there for years (you used to could not delete the ads) and it' always says "dont have to sell it...." and then lists a very high price.

i try to stick with guys off this forum, and i find it easier to give stuff to guys on here, (I gave all my brass to Chris, then he trades it all around)
than to risk selling it to some idiot & ending up in a bad news clip

I prefer to deal on stuff here as well but I have done deals on armslist and havent had any issues yet. I've tried to buy a few OBO items as well but either I'm just a tight-wad or they really dont want OBO. I havent had any trouble with anyone....yet, and hope not to. Bummer that guy won't leave you alone but hopefully reporting him will fix it.

I have only sold two items on Armslist here in SC with no problems although I was a little nervous about it as I am used to the backwards ways of California...you know, background check, blood sample, etc.

First sale (stripped lower) ended up being to a Greenville Policeman. Great guy, learned a lot and made a friend. Second sale was a rifle. I had over 30 replies in the first day. However, I noticed one of the replies had an email address from a local church. I ended up selling the rifle to a preacher! I figured I could use any "bonus points" I can get.

I guess I got lucky with my two Armslist sales. I too would much rather buy, sell, and trade with the fine folks on this forum. Keep it friendly, keep it local.

Cheers...

Armslist is where "normal" (i.e. stupid) people go to buy guns.

They don't know anything about guns, gun prices, rarity, make, model, caliber, et al.

This is why you see used Glocks for $650 and a TEC-9 listed as "UZI"

Armslist is where you take your $600 AR-15 and sell it for $1500. Don't expect any deals on there and certainly don't expect any informed buyers.

maybe someone here could create a fancy moving pic of a cop shooting him the bird for you.

I have done quite a few deals with people from Armslist....but, not since the new "Scare"....People have lost their minds....

I was talking to a guy about his AK...He was bragging that his AK was acurate to 600 meters....and, a .45 acp could only be used at 50 yards...That is when I deleted his "Genuis"...

People have crazy ideas and want to make $1000.00 off of an AR they just bought at PSA for $750...

I just hope all those speculators get stuck with their $50.00 ex-GI mags and such....

I am kind of just setting back and going to wait till things settle down a little....Then maybe the Crazies will leave Armslist...

I refuse to deal with out of state people or bold thugs on armslist. Cause any time I used to payments never showed up or said it was sold and then buyer backed out. I recently had a guy tell me he wanted 3 30 round mags. I told him he could meet me own James island or while I was running errands in north Charleston. He emailed me back and said he was in sandiego. Told him to nice to a free state never heard back. But the worst is someone who sends you ten emails cause thy want what your selling but tell you how many places they could find it cheaper. Then get mad when I tell them they should buy it there.

I understand your resistance to dealing with people in other states but, just so you can be aware, there is no crime in you sending 30 round magazines to California or even NY.

If the guy in San Diego paid you with a USPS Money Order, you cashed it, then mailed him three 30-round magazines.... you have committed zero crimes.

Another interesting thing to note (that doesn't affect you unless you live in California) is that residents of California are permitted to purchase magazines with capacities higher than 10 rounds if the magazine is disassembled.

I've had an overall good experience with armslist in the past. I've made a handful of deals on there and most them have been pretty good. I have backed out of a couple because I just wasn't comfortable.

Now-a-days people put so much info on the internet if you have an email address and a phone number you can find out a lot about someone with pretty simple google-fu. Thats my background check and its probably more thorough than NICS.

I've actually made a few friends on there and have done repeat deals both buying and selling over email without going through armslist.

Fordnut is right. Its too crazy on there right now.

I have talked to this TROLL in the past... he didn't like a comment that I made on my sales ad, so he preceded to harass me and send me retarded emails about "where his Sig was made"... I gladly put the man in his place, since he clearly wasn't there to purchase the item... I guess he had nothing else to day so he resorted to calling me "Morris the Cat"... LOL, what a loser... some people really have nothing better to do.... True definition of a Troll... Rich Hagen: This Bud's for you...

Oh gosh I hope not. The 'crazies' are how I've been supporting this hobby :)

Armslist is like Craigslist. You list high, with a lower 'real' price in mind. They offer low, knowing what it should actually be worth. You meet in the middle after some haggling.

The folks that don't haggle, I worry about them. They need the gun that bad, they can buy it from a dealer and not me...

I've had good luck buying scopes and accessories on Arms List.
I have sold one gun that was a smooth local deal.
I am very picky about who I do business with though.
I will back out if anything seems off at all.
Hell I dropped a trade because I didn't like the way he strung words into a sentence.
Well that and the trade was so far in my favor I was afraid he was trying to trade a stolen gun.

Yep there are definitely TROLLs under that bridge.

I've purchased and sold on Armslist, firearms and accessories.
I've had a couple of no shows which really pisses me off.
I've also had a few out of state send me the "XXX" and when I get it I will send you the money - SERIOUSLY?
I really like them comparing my price to expired or clearance deals like from Slick Guns - BUY IT FROM THEM!!!

All in all, I only deal local, I make the person send me a copy of their SC DL before the exchange.
Had a few people refuse to show me their DL, so I refuse the sale.
