Is it just me or does anyone else see the larger conspiracy link between the (currently stilted) efforts at disarming the citizenry (that would be 'us') and all of the Big Brother surveillance and control systems we are learning about? I'm not really a tin foil hat guy but contemplate for a moment how much worse things might be for us all if they knew we could be controlled without any means of resistance. Offered up as a "thought for the day".

There is likely no actual desire to "get" We, The People. I don't think most people in government, at all levels, give a shei?e about subjugating anyone.

I think it is much more likely that these government actors and agencies are completely self-absorbed and have a compulsive, hegemonic desire to have "More."

More money.
More influence.
More respect.
More adulation.
More personnel.
More exemptions.
More rights.
More privileges.
More.
More.
More.

I don't think anyone in the TSA, FBI, NSA, IRS, CIA et al. go through their day contemplating ways to take anything from We, The People.

However, I am certain that a great percentage of each go through their day, and have regular meetings to discuss, how they can increase their presence, justify their expense and existence, and grow their sphere of ownership.

Make no mistake, they're evil and a threat to Liberty. But their intentions are selfish, not nefarious.

Very well articulated sir, and I concur. My prior use of the words "...conspiracy link..." were ill chosen. I doubt that most bureaucrats have the mental acuity to conceive, plan, and execute a conspiracy of that magnitude. (But the knowledge that Garden Plot and its replacement, CONPLAN 3502 exists still make me uncomfortable). Agreeing wholeheartedly with your assessment that their intentions are selfish, not nefarious, the end result would be the same. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. on that live leak site i found i watched a 4 parter on WW1. it is unbelievable the number of men that died. at one town they said 247,000 men, just the allies, died to take it.

people are dying by the 1000s still.
