If I want to change my mind...or am a complete newb and don't know what the f@ck I'm doing (you know, either way)...how hard is it to switch from Minor to Major and etc., etc.?
Just bring a .308 to shoot major.

Open Division allows side mounted red dots, I rarely use it. But it's handy on occasion.

This is my rifle...and so on

But remember that minor and major are not separate divisions in IPSC, shooting a major caliber rifle you'll be competing against minor caliber rifle shooters, and you will in comstock scoring be........not competitive.

Is the .308 just too slow or what?

yes, even though you have a scoring advantage, you can't keep up with the speed of the guys shooting minor.

IPSC is kinda behind the times on the divisions and major/minor thing. They would be much better off with major division and a minor division and having a place for red dot optics in a division.

thats just due to the breeding and diet. Our bovine corn fed women and fast food over here makes for stable shooting platforms... HA!

Sweden?....what.....I thought you were coming to shoot the nordic championship in Norway?
I can only do one this year and Norway is the same time as one of my daughters big figure skating championships.. So West Coast Open it is!!

Indeed.. But changing things up every once in a while is kinda cool.. One thing I found out, in the limited experience I have, is the one gun in 3-gun Open that gives you no advantage, is the rifle (except the bipods on maybe 3 targets per match) So think of this as shooting the old way, before the OKCGC played a major role in changing the 1x optics to Limited..

KurtM likes this..

Aha....I'll see how that fits my schedule, havent shot west coast since 2012......beware of insanely tight safety angles ;)
practice running with your gun more or less pointing exactly at the targets.
