info on aiken, s.c. gunsmith J.E. Moates, please

I have a beautifully built custom Mauser in .243 Winchester. On the magazine floorplate, it says "made by J.E. Moates." I have found a little info about Mr. Moates online, but, as he has passed away, there is not much info to be found. So, can someone on this forum tell me a little--or a lot--about Mr. Moates? Anyone on the forum have a gun he put together? Any and all info will be appreciated. Thank you!

Mr. Moates shop is now owned by Chuck Smith. They moved to a new location, and I am sure if you stopped by or gave him a call he would be more than happy to speak with you. He worked for Mr. Moates before buying the shop from him.
