Comtemplating that once in a lifetime gun. Does anyone have any experience with the Infinity Sight Tracker? What are your thoughts? Seems they were hot a few years ago and just died out. Cost? Just rambling, buy your thoughts are appreciated.

Infinity guns are incredibly well constructed, the sight tracker configuration is a neat idea that falls short of being awesome IMO.

In 2013 you may see some weighted barrels with the sight in front of the slide too.

Plan on spending around $4000 or more and being happy with your purchase. Everyone says they love their Infinity, and that it's worth the money. Seems crazy to me, but I haven't done it yet. But I have yet to hear or read about anyone who isn't happy with such a purchase. Really happy. It reminds me of the joke about never seeing anyone frowning while riding a jet ski.

yeah, but before you do, you need to decide on 5 inch, 5.4 sight tracker, 6 inch, etc..... be sure it is what you want before you drop the price.... do A LOT OF RESEARCH..

All of my pistols are SVI including my sightracker that I use for 3 gun. It has barrel in 9mm and 40 and probably has about 50,000 rounds with no signs of wear. I am a fixture at the SV shop and can help you through a gunbuilder when you are ready. You are more that welcome to shoot mine at a match and see what all the talk is about. My new 5.4" gun should be ready in a week so I can bring it out as well. I believe in buy once, cry once so suck it up and make an order. Just shoot me a message and I can help you through the process.

I've handled or owned custom 2011's from most of the custom makers out there. None of them are close to an SV. Fit, finish, and quality are far above anything I've seen assembled with STI parts.

2 years ago, I held an SV sight tracker that had upwards of 80k on it. It still felt as tight and smooth as any custom 2011 I've handled. I now own 3 of them and don't plan on selling them at any point.

As far as the actual shooting of a sight tracker configuration compared to a conventional barrel, it's different. With the sight tracker, the slide is very light so actual muzzle rise is low. It also cycles very fast. My best comparison is with 9mm minor guns. A conventional slide gives more of a push then recovers. The sight tracker more of a light snap and recovers quickly.

If possible, try one before buying. It is an expensive investment but it's worth it to me.

If its going to be a once in a lifetime gun, stick to a more traditional type of build.
research is important, but the internet will just confuse you; talk to SHOOTERS...
