I've posted that I'm done buying firearms, .. that I've got more than I can shoot on a regular basis already.
Both long guns, & esp. handguns, ( and esp 1911's,) in a variety of cals & sizes.

Even have a 1911 Dbl stack 45 ( a Para P-14) mine must be defective, 'cause it hasn't caused me ANY problems.
( Makes me wonder when mine's going to explode.. or develop a "problem" ?

So ,what brought about my change of mind ? You may have guessed it..I ordered another pistol earlier today.
Not just another pistol, another 1911..maybe more accurate to say a 2011..(or a Dbl stack 1911 ?)

can anyone describe the difference between a Dbl stack 1911 ( like my Para P-14) and a 2011 ?
maybe price ? LOL :)

So what got me to change my mind ? It was one of those pesty ads.. AND ..everyone singing the praises on their Tisas 1911's.

Though not a good reason, but I've been curious to see if a Tisas is as good as / better than my (3) Rock Island 1911's.
( a Govt size 9mm, a Officer siz 45, and a Baby Rock 380 )
With the claimed forged steel frame, slide, etc.. & no MIM parts..it should be better than my RIA's

What can I say ? I'm a sucker for a good sale. Maybe I need to unsubscribe to all those sites that send me ads daily
,& more often, ..several X's a day.

Sportsman's Outdoor Superstore caught me in a moment of weakness, & I ordered a Tisas Cmdr. sized Dbl stack 9mm , their B9R
I "need" a Dbl stack 9mm 1911, obviously, as I don't already have one. It was /is on sale, for what seems to be a great price,
compared to other online sellers where I price checked . Might take awhile to get here, but not like I need it, NOW.
Now, the ? is , is it a Dbl stack 1911 or a 2011 ? ;)

well, ad said comes with (2) 17 rnd mags.. if you don't have a 1911 in 9mm, you do"need" one. ;) :)
Don't be like me & wait for 30 +yrs. before trying one. ( meaning a 1911 in 9mm instead of 45)

Did I mention it's an "optic ready" model ? with my aging eyesight, might be one of those (optics) in my future as well

A "true" 2011 uses the same pattern magazines that Staccato, Tisas, Prodigys, Atlas, and some of the others use. The Rock Island pistols use the same pattern magazines that Para Ordnance pioneered long ago.
The "true" 2011 magazines are easier to get these days (Checkmate, Duramag, Atlas) all sell them, I bought mine straight from Tisas at $50/ea, as compared to Atlas magazines at $135!!!!, but they all work. Tisas and Staccato source their magazines from Checkmate, FWIW. Prodigys use Duramags (I bought a couple 26 rounders on sale from Midway for $25/ea., while I've had no issues with them yet, their reputation is somewhat spotty.
The Para pattern magazines are pretty much "whenever RIA decides to get some more in-country", which makes them harder to source, AND you might have to swap out baseplates to get them to fit the magwell/funnel, and that's kind of a PITN.

I have the Tisas, and I still had to monkey with it a bit to get it "just right". I put a 19# mainspring in it, and a Wilson leaf spring, and an EGW hammer in it, and the trigger went from 5lb, down to 3.25lbs, so it was worth it to me, anyway. I also had to swap out the extractor for a Brazos extractor (and I had to buy a Dawson extractor removal tool to do that $25, but it's useful in all my other 1911s, too). Tisas can't seem to get the 9mm extractors right to save their lives, but adding the Brazos (some Texas outfit) extractor cured all ills. I use a Holosun 507K on mine, and used their screws to attach the red dot, it works fine, but keep an eye on the screws and keep them tight. It's a fun little pistol, especially since it works well enough now. You're gonna have fun with it! Buy some extra Checkmate magazines and have a ball!

Though when I phoned in my order, I was told to expect a 7-14 day delay in shipment, due to a new computer system that has bugs not yet resolved.
Got a notice my order was being processed the following day. Next day, another notice that my order has been shipped ! Now, it's on it's way , for an expected delivery on Monday. Guess the bugs have been exterminated.. Did some online searching for spare mags, looks like Prodigy mags are the most currently available. I did find lots of Atlas mags available. ;)

Before you buy any spare magazines, try out the pistol, and if it works fine with the supplied magazines, just buy more of them. I got mine straight from Tisas (VERY fast shipping from the home office). Most aftermarket outfits are selling them for $60, but getting them straight from Tisas can save you about $10/apiece.

I've yet to have any feeding issues with the Checkmate magazines. The ONLY issues I have ever had with the pistol is with extraction, and I mentioned my solution above. Best of luck !!

I FINALLY got to the range today. Tested my RIA full size and my silverTisas Tank Commander, both 45, both ran perfectly. I was going to test both with 230gr ball, but only brought 1 full box and one partial box with I think 20 in it. Older IMI (bought it back around 2002 I think.) worked perfectly. It all got shot up in my RIA. Had 1 full box and one partial box of probably 15 or 20 I dont recall exactly of Federal 230gr HP in the white box. The Tisas loves it! I havent been out in MONTHS and it showed. I am very happy with the results of both guns today. Hard time finding front sight after Cat surgery last year, but at 50' the bullseye is perfectly clear lol. Once I figured out what I needed to do it was good. Both guns group nicely.

If this is mentioned anywhere above forgive me, the difference in 2011 and ds 1911 is 2011 is a trade mark of Staccato and others not supposed to use it , you got the 2311, one that uses Sig mags, Kimber has the 2K11, normally you won't hear manufacturers using the term 2011 but the YouTube reviewers use it all the time, some even say we are not supposed to call gun X, whatever they are reviewing at the time a 2011 but they do.

And it's ok to change your mind about having enough then deciding to add another, I told my oldest son I want 2 more and then may be done, I've got a Kimber Rapide Heat optic ready on layaway, when that's paid off I want a Glock 19x MOS, the Glock not a have to have but would like one

Yesterday was the day, ..time to pick up my new Dbl.stack 1911.. I tried to pick it up Fri. afternoon, but couldn't !

Why ? The law has changed, since my last pistol / firearm purchase, must have been 2 yrs ago.
I used to be able to go to Patriot Wholesale Direct, ( my FFL dealer) enter my info into their computer, & a background check would be done.
I could then take my new firearm home, after signing the computer generated registration forms.

NOW, unless you have a CPL, you have to go pick up a "permit to purchase"..before going thru exactly the same process I just described.

What a waste. When I went to Sheriff's office to get my Pur. permit, I was given a form to fill out .. all exactly the same info I'd complete on the computer @ P.W.D. in the past.

Even stranger, I gave my Driver's license to the staff, while I was filing out the form & before I'd even completed the form, the staff had my Pur. permit filled out,
with all my personal data filled in.

If they already had that data , why'd I have to fill out the form ?
Another example of govt. redundancy & waste . Maybe I should ask Elon to look into this ?

at least I was then able to pick up my new pistol.. after going thru their computer program, back @ my FFL dealer, providing the same info, & answering the same questions..just as I had done it the past. He filled out my forms, kept 2 copies, 1 he still has to send to the Sheriff's office, 1 for his records, & gave me my copy.
Law changed so now the seller ((or FFL dealer doing the transfer) has responsibility for getting a copy to the Sheriff's Office / (record dept) instead of the buyer having that responsibility ( as it was in the past)

I spent yesterday afternoon taking apart my Tisas Cmdr-sided dbl stack 9mm. I cleaned, inspected , oiled ,& reassembled it , to get familiar with it.
I plan a range trip very soon. Will try 115gr, 124/5 gr, 147, FMJ, JHP, and polymer-coated rds I have in my stash.
Will probably include the 94gr & 65gr composite loads I have as well, to see if my loads reliably cycle the action.

I might even post here a review of what I find, & my impression of it.

You may thank our "governor" and all the elites on BOTH sides of the aisle for that stinkin' debacle. Mi State Govt stinks on ice! I've lived here for just shy of 72 years now, and have voted since I was 18. I've always been in awe of the idiocy I see going on in our state govt. too old to move too much family that won't move so here I sit. Oh well I truly believe that one way or another the end is near and getting closer with every tick of the clock.
