So iv always shot with a dot and never with a scope except for the few times I went hunting.

With that being said can you guys help me with the proper way to shoot a match with a 1-4x scope. Should I focus on the target or the reticle? Shoot with both eyes open? How do you get proper cheek weld evertime so I get a good view and not black? Any other tricks to help me out..

I focus on the target and shoot with both eyes open all the time. The ability to do that came through pistol dryfire. Cheek weld is something you just need to burn into muscle memory, after you get your scope properly positioned for you. Scope position is individually different for everyone. My scopes happen to be further forward than most, but some like them further back. Some people like higher mounts, some like lower.

I use both eyes for 1x, but for anything above 2x my brain is basically ignoring my left eye. I need to run an experiment and see if I can use the left eye to track the next target and help transition things out of the scope when shooting right to left.

What he said^^^

Shoot it just like your dot. Dry fire to get a consistent cheek weld and mount your scope accordingly.

I run good mounts like LaRue. That height they use is good for most people. I set my scopes as far forward as I can in the upper's picatinny rail and start from there. I run the LT139 SPR-E extended mounts because they give the most forward reaching options on scope placement. I shoot nose to charging handle so they need to be way forward for me.

I have a Leopoldo mk4 1.5x5...the rifle won't fir in my bag with the scope mounted. I have it mounted on a Burris quick detach. My question is, is it going to affect my zero when I have to dismount and remount it each time? Any help would be appreciated.

I never remove my scope unless i plan to check zero before I shoot it.

Get a different bag. Voodoo tactical, Brownells, and several other make a nice double long gun bag.

Yeah. There's a bunch of mounts that are supposed to return to zero, but I don't plan to trust them, especially with the 300-600 yard targets that are at almost every match I shoot.

Larue told me they guarantee that the LR104 mount will return to within .5 MOA of zero after being remounted with the QD attachment. I suspect the same is for the others with the same QD setup. I recently purchased a condor tactical dual gun bag and I can fit all 3 guns in there fine with room to spare. You can find them for about $60 online

I had to send my LaRue SPR-E, with the whole upper, in to the factory because one of the VFZ mounts stripped out and VFZ mounts aren't field serviceable. When got everything back, I remounted it and installed the scope. I had to make exactly one click of adjustment to the right to re-zero, which on my scope is 1/2 MOA. That's pretty awesome.
