I need help with a girl!

I really need some advice on how to get a girlfriend, badly!
I have no idea if I'm being played or not. I had asked a friend to help me out with this, but I don't know what to do for myself.
I don't know how to stop being shy and soooooo incecure! I need help in that, along with starting a conversation up and not make it sound soooo boring!
It's been destroying me lately and I need help with this! :'(
I can't stop thinking of her, she's just sooooooo pretty and funny! If anyone where to ever hurt her they'd have to literaly kill me to get to her, if anyone would dare raise a hand to her then it's on, right there and then! I'm not like other 14/15 year old boys that just want to have sex and do other dumb and bad things with their girlfriends, I'm a true gentleman!
So if someone could please give me some tips and advice that I could do that would be great! But like I said, I'm really shy and everyone says I'm really incecure with myself.

best advice i can give, is things change over time. Things that were important to you at age 6 weren't important to you at age 12 which won't be important to you at age 18, and so forth. People also change over time, so the stress you are feeling about this girl will pass and she/you will change and the chances you will stay together or get together are very slim.. a real relationship isn't about "getting a girl/guy" it happens naturally, if you have to "get" someone by using some sort of tactics then you are already starting the relationship on a "false pretense" so to say... my first date with my wife (13 years ago) was at the gym (we lifted back that day) and i told her i wasn't going to walk around and open her car door because i wouldn't do that long term and i didn't want to set up false expectations.... so with all that being said, everyone is insecure, not everyone will admit it... over time a natural relationship will develop with someone and i can assure you that you will look back on this time and think.. i shouldn't have stressed about this, it wasn't that big of a deal..

Lol, I'm on top of my game in school, my grade are all "A's" so far. This might be lame but in art class we're drawing a rose and all, I was gonna erase my name once I get it back and put "You're the Rose among the Thorns" and then ask her out or what ever, but advice is still needed though. I know it sounds lame and all but hopefully it works out and all. She is the girl I REALLY want. I've never ever had a girlfriend before so I guess you could say I'm new to this. But the drawing of mine looks really really good though!
Should this really be under "Ask the Semi-Pro" though?? :/

I guess you could say that, it's just really messing me up big time, not in school, but it's messing with my head and all. I've liked her for 2 years now and I haven't done a thing! I just don't know what to do. My dad says girl will basically blind-side you, you'll never see it coming. I think though she does like me but just won't admit it. I just need to stop being soooooo shy around people, I'm even shy at the shooting range although I've known the people up there for a while now but I can't talk to them like I can with friends cuz I'm just WAY TO shy! But what do you mean by "false pretence" though? I don't understand it....

I'd explore other options, like stabbing myself with a fork, running full speed into inanimate objects, falling from high places, or dodging traffic...all options that are stastically less hazardous than your average realationship with the female of the species
