A customer brought this 1911 slide in to me the other day. He took it at another gun shop (which will remain unnamed) to have night sightes installed and after two failed attempts to stake in the front sight they decided to dove tail it for Novak style sights. The front sight turned out great! :D

Did they not know that companies make night sights for a GI cut rear, or was the customer set on Novacks? Even if they were set on a Novack cut there were better ways to do that.

armedpig, I have no idea what they were thinking. The customer told me they were having a hard time staking on the front sight, which does take some specific tools. No I think cutting the slide for Novak's was some kind of alternative, none of it really makes sense. It's an easy install if you have the tools and the right sights.

HHB, I'm having the rear of the slide milled down and the dove tail re-cut. I'll fill the old dovetail with a blank and then the customer is going to Duracoat the entire pistol.
