I've lurked around here a bit doing the lurker thing which is basically just lurking I guess. Anywho, i've decided to go legit and sign up so here I am. I frequent ARFCOM and OSA mostly so you may know the name. While I don't get to shoot that often I enjoy it greatly. I'm a big fan of the AR platform owning versions from a S&W M&P 15-22 Talo to an Alexander Arms .50 Beowulf. I also love "western" era guns like the SAA, lever actions and my prized 1873 Springfield "trapdoor" carbine. I guess that's about it...other than "hi".

Welcome to the party! Sounds like you have quite a collection there. Do you have a 3 Gun rifle or USPSA pistol yet?

Probably not...what would that consist of? I have a tricked out Benelli M1 S90 Tactical, I have some AR's like a Colt LE6920 and a Loki 6.5 Grendel but i don't know what kinds of guns are legal. Not sure what's USPSA legal, i have a Beretta 92A1, a Glock 21and an STI Elektra .45acp plus some revolvers but i don't have anything considered "competition" grade other than maybe the Benelli M1.

That was my way of asking if you have shot any matches yet. You don't need any special guns. Just the desire to have fun. You should give it a go.

Nope, never shot any kind of competetions. I might try one of these days...i'm a pretty good shot but not on the level of the people shooting competively lol.

What are the requirements of these shoots? I assume a gun and some ammo but anything else?

Well gee-diddily-willikers

I've seen you in general discussion on ARFCOM

Recommended requirements, IMO, are to have the necessary guns and a lot of ammo! I haven't been out lately because I don't have money or ammo right now.

For a uspsa match, you'll need to have 200 rounds.

Pistol, holster, good belt, 3 mags (minimum), mag pouches, ear & eye protection, and willing to have FUN (and a good adrenaline rush). Round count depends on the match. Good places to start are:

Heartland Outdoors - 1st & 3rd Sunday nights, sign in starts at 5:30pm, round count usually 72 -100 - cost $20 with random $50 gift certificate prizes

H&H - 2nd Sunday night, sign in starts at 5:30pm, round count around 100, I always bring 150. - cost $15

OKCGC - 1st Saturday, sign in at 9:30am, round count around 180-200. I usually bring 250. - cost $10 for club members, $15 everyone else

All 3 of these are great for new shooters to attend and lots of good folks to answer any questions.
