How often do you clean your guns?

I prefer cleaning my guns when I get them home from whatever type of shooting I've done, but generally I just do that with pistols and the shotgun. I clean my AR about every third to fourth use. Lately I've been letting the shotgun go a couple trips before cleaning it, since it's a pain in the ass to disassemble and reassemble.

Depends on the gun....

Hunting rifles... good lick and promise after they have been out. I dont over clean bores... if the gun get shot it may get a patch and a light oiling. I generally dont scrub centerfire 30 cal rifles until groups open up. (that may be "never" for a couple of Winchesters I have)

22's... I like to clean the action every brick or two... the wax is the problem

Shotguns.... good bore cleaning and wipe down. I have a 11-87 that's never had the trigger pins out... and it's killed a ton of clay birds. I have detailed a Mossberg 500 or two that were full of lint over the years

Pistols.... centerfire... a good wipe down ... detail cleaning about once a year on the revolvers... 1911 gets a tear down at least once a year... feild strip and cleaning about every 300 rounds... if it's carried I may wipe it off daily and check the lubricaton once a week or so.

Over cleaning and excessive dis assembly wears guns faster than use....In my opinion its harder to maintain a safe queen than a working gun

Thanks for all the replies. Good to hear I'm not just some crazy gun nut. Though, I suppose comparing myself to a gun forum isn't exactly saying a lot. lol :)

When I clean them, I pull the slides off, run a poll down the barrel, wiped down the slides with an oiled cloth, etc. After spending so much on my gear I wanted to make sure it lasts. :D
