huh, so if you don't carry 24/7 you are now a sheep??? i don't understand the connection at all other than to put someone down... this has been a civil conversation thus far let's keep it that way..
 
I knew people wouldn't like that I choose to not carry all the time, but you don't need to be putting me down for it. It's my choice to make and mine alone. If you don't agree with it, then fantastic, you have your opinion and I have mine.

Anywho... back on topic. I'm glad to see that so many of the rest of you guys carry everyday. I'll try to do better at it :)
 
Carrying is a very personal decision. Only the person doing it can make that decision. Would I like to see more people carrying, hell yes. Do I think less of someone who decides not to carry? Absolutely not.
 
Well if makes ya feel any better I don't care if you carry or not! if you carry great if not who cares? everyone has there thoughts and opinions that's what makes us individuals. I got my CCL just to be legal as I grew up in a small town and well everyone had a pistol probably why the crime rate was so low LOL Later,

I carry the Keltec P3AT in everything but my speedo, with a spare mag in a pocket holster so it doesn't print.
If I have good cover clothing, the Kahr CW-40 in a Don Hume ITWB is what is carried as well as the pocket gun.
I keep the identical Kahr in each vehicle with spare mags, so I don't have to worry about which platform to worry about.

I don't think of it that way. You see sales people carrying laptops, Ipads, etc all the time in their daily travels. Perfect place to have a concealed carry.
I see the ads that show womens purses designed for cc, and laugh. My wife wouldn't be seen dead with one of them, and she is low maintenance.
One of the best ideas I've seen for the pocket guns, is the belt holster that looks like a cell phone or PDA holder. I considered using them in the past, but they have an opening on the sides to let the sound of an incoming call get through. That would let somebody see the gun. Saw an ad the other day for one designed for guns that looks like a cell holster. It looked good. I'd get one.
 
The beauty of my versapack, I don't recall the model name, is it basically houses my duty rig. Spare Glock 23, spare mag, flashlight, handcuffs, tourniquet, spare knife, ink pen, pocket notebook, and Copenhagen. Very handy.
 
For a second there, I thought, MAN, I didn't carry on ...day. Then I realized, those were days I didn't leave the house.
I need to get out of the friggin house more often. (other than to work... on Tinker... where I can't carry.)

Having read you fellas and shot with you it's obvious your making an informed decision based on your experiences. I respect that so don't think I am picking on you.

Some times the phrases an informed person makes get adopted by folks who have not invested the mental energy to come up with a reason to do (or not do) any given action. Guys lIke me will take a reason and challenge it so others can see it in a different light and come to a conclusion of their own.

I am in a rural area of Texas, here on my property I open carry daily only on my property, everywhere else I carry a G32 357 SIG in a belt slide holster or Galco with thumb break, AR15 goes in truck with my German Shepherd every day, sometimes my FNSLP also when I am going to be alone all day long. rarely a day without finding something thats needs shooting at. When I go to town or anywhere else its my G32 under a shirt.

Jeff, you weren't the problem here. I appreciate your input on the subject and will take it to heart and maybe alter my decision on carrying more. The problem was the unneeded name calling by Rod. It really didn't bother me, but Benjamin is right that the conversation needs to stay civil and not turn into bashing.

Anywho... again.... carry on.
 
jeff no problem with you at all... but i do think it is funny that people are talking about "informed decisions", yet statistically and logically not carrying is an informed decision because the chances of death are higher with just about every other thing you do on a daily basis (yet i don't see people getting ripped for driving cars!!).. this article came out today and it is great because it is discussing why people argue and ironically (or not!) it specifically addressed this type of conversation (click the link for full article), also for the record people that want to carry every day i have no problem with whatsoever..


Do you know a guy who keeps a loaded shotgun under his bed? You know, in case a gang of European terrorists storm into his house and try to kidnap his family?

If you throw a bunch of statistics at him about how unlikely that is (for example, that he lives in a low-crime suburb in Wisconsin where there's only been one murder in the last 40 years, that he's statistically more likely to accidentally do something stupid than ward off a criminal and that more people were struck by lightning last year than successfully shot bad guys in the middle of committing crimes), it won't change his mind. Instead, he'll rebut you by citing a news story or an anecdote about a guy who successfully fended off a Die Hard bad guy thanks to his trusty 12-gauge. For him, that single, vivid example completely overrides all talk of statistics or probability.
