I'm sure this question has already been asked and answered several times, so feel free to direct me to the existing thread. I have a Versa Max and would like to open the loading port. Is this something that can be done at home with a dremel and hand files, or is it something I should send the gun off to have done by a pro? I talked about this briefly with the guys at Tooth and Nail Armory, and was told they could do it, but was also told it can be done at home. If I can do it at home, where should I look for instructions?

All it takes is a few files that haven't been ruined and 90 minutes of your time. Half that time is slapping in the trigger assembly and checking to see how much clearance you created.

For me, if I have to ask someone if this was something I could do at home to something as nice as a Versa Max, I would let the pros do it. That's just me though and if it requires patience, then I'm definately sending it to the pros.

If I can't afford to have someone fix my screw up then it's better left to the pros, done once, done right.

I didn't realize that Jesse had made a video(s) of load port mods. That would explain a lot regarding my work load the last few months.
;)

I'll try not to come complaining about anything, thanks for that. Accurate Iron is highly recommended, but I also have C-Rums less than an hour drive away and Mr Cockrum comes to the COPS range fairly regularly. That'll lessen shipping and turnaround time I've already had the lifter welded. He charges 120 bucks to open and extend the loading port. Is that about normal for this job?

if you have a local smith i would recommend that, hard to beat having someone local and he is more than capable

Mr. C would be your best route to take in this case.
We're so used to Accurate Ron being nearby that we just toss his name out all willy nilly.

I did my own, but a friend sent his off. He did the math and with buying a dremel tool, the files, and sandpaper he would need, it was only a little bit more to have a pro do it for him. I already had all of the tools so I went for it. Only took a couple of hours.

the job i did on the shell catch, omg lol, i couldnt take it off so i just put the dremel right to it and did the top part only. It looks awefull but it loads nice now, ready for saturday.
