I am will shooting my first USPSA match starting next Friday night. And I was wondering how someone earns there classification. I will be starting out in the production division. I did not know if you got classified right away or you had to go to a certain competition to get classified.

You have to have 4 different classifers on file then you will be classified

I've been curious about this too. If you haven't had an opportunity to shoot any classifiers can you not shoot in a USPSA match? Do they have a newbie/also participated class until you're able to shoot the required 4 classifiers?

You can absolutely shoot USPSA without being classified. Just get out there and shoot! Classifications can help gauge the skill of the shooter, but it's not an absolute indicator. Some people practice the crap out of classifiers and shoot them well but don't perform in line with their classification in matches.

You'll be generally shooting one classifier per match. If you aren't classified, you fall into "Unclassified", and your class is U.

A lot of places have a all classifier match in the spring/early summer. Check with your local ranges and see which ones do and don't.

Question on this. I shot uspsa today and got about 65% on the classifier. This is my first one so I know I don't get a classification yet. Does my 65% go directly to uspsa or will it be different based on national scores?

Your percentage will go in to USPSA and be compared against the GM's around the country. The 65% is what you shot against the match winner today, when it is compaired against the others that is the percentage that USPSA classifies you by.

You got 65% on the classifier, or you got 65% of the top score for the classifier at the match?
There is a biiiiiig difference.

If you want to know what you'll score when it gets up loaded, you'll have to enter your hit factor into one of the classifier calculators you can find online, like this one http://www.classifiercalc.com/

I should also clarify that your score will only be there provided that are a USPSA member.
Otherwise, there's no place to put it.
