High-Cap Match @ Ponca City R&PC, Saturday, April 30

I got out the extra mag holders tonight. This is gonna be insane... One of these stages has 27 pieces of steel a Texas star, and 14 paper targets!!! I'm gonna need every one of the 120 rounds I can go into the stage with. lol.
Wait until you get to shoot the "new and improved" plate rack ;)

I got to shoot that plate rack twice in the last match... I can say without reservation that it was not pretty. Someone thought it was a good idea to put the fastest bearings ever devised by man in the thing!!!! lol. It looks a lot tougher than it really is.

It has been changed. I can't say how(as I don't know) but the designer saw the need to increase the difficulty factor.

The match only recognizes Limited and Open due to the high capacity. So you can load those mags up to 15. That way 4-5 mags will be enough for a 60 round stage. If you need more mags I know a guy that has around 10 mags with Dawson precision extensions that hold 20. I'm sure if you agreed to clean them he'd let you borrow them all.

I might take you up on that offer.

First post, im one of the Hooligans riding with Rusty, should be a good match ready to knock the rust off this trigger finger. Backer while your gathering mags ill throw in an xtra XD in case your Glock breaks under the pressure. I just hope Mike doesn't show up like he did in Owasso.

All loaded up, and ready to go. :D

Me too... I'm not sure that 500 rounds is enough for this event. lol... The new gun will hopefully cut down on extra shots on steel.

500? I thought it was 60 rounds per stage- 4 stages?

Thinking about it, I might run another hundred or so tomorrow after work.

I always figure that I can take the extra ammo back home. lol... I do not want the possibility of running out to ever be part of my stage or match planning. I'll have plenty to worry about with all that steel around.

My usual plan for ammo allocation is to double the expected round count, then throw in some more.

Me too. I always bring double the match required. When my wife was shooting with me, that would add up to a bunch of ammo when we went to major matches.

This match today was the most fun I've had shooting in awhile!!! I'd like to offer a huge thank you to all of the Ponca City guys for putting this event on. I knew it sounded like a lot of fun but I had no idea how awesome it was going to be. This match was epic!

I have it on good authority that there will be more of these matches in the future. I will be sure to sign up on time in the future. lol...

Rumor has it, another match later in the fall.

I had an awesome time. Advise....don't take a single stack box stock 1911 to a hi cap match.

I'll throw my 2 cents into the pot as well and say thanks to all the women and men who put on the match today. Things ran pretty smoothly after we got started and all the stages were a hoot to shoot. And of course the group of guys we shot with helped make it all that much more fun. I need to invest in a mag loader before another match like this, my thumbs are sore.

It's a pretty long drive from Duncan to Ponca City, but we made it just fine with the help of a strong tail wind. But to get to shoot a spinning plate rack, the star and the magical steel at Ponca was good times.

Don't know where the rest of you guys were but we had a good time without you! ;)

When was the last time you had shot 40 some-odd rounds in a single stage and to finish the stage all you had to do is shoot 8 more paper targets, 2 shots per, and your trigger finger starts to freeze/tighten and won't pull the trigger as fast as your brain tells it to.
Well...that's to long.
Can't wait to do it again.
This match was very well run, the wind would cause a problem and out came a phone and in a minute here come a 4 wheeler with a stapler or what ever was needed.
A lot of work went into these stages and it was a real treat.
My trigger finger is plum tired and will sleep good tonight.
