ok i purchased my first glock a month or so ago.i have shot it quite a bit.. had it in a few matches and i have found some issues i'm not real sure about. first off.... it goes to slide lock ALOT, for no apparent reason. my second problemn is, every time it is dry fired it goes to slide lock when you rack the slide again. is this normal? i read my owners manual again and it says that the slide release should snap back down into the frame when released... mine is slow and sometimes doesnt go all the way. i am assuming this is a spring or a dirt issue. pretty sure its not dirt. where can i find said spring and how hard is it to replace?

thanks guys....

PM me. I live close to you and I can look at it tomorrow. I'm a Glock armorer. I think I know what the problem is, but its easier to show you than type it out.

When you dry fire it and pull the slide back and it goes to slide lock, do you have an empty mag in the pistol? If it is going to slide lock with bullets still in the mag, it could be a bad feed ramp, or a bad slide release. Sometimes you can just file the slide release down a little bit and it will fix the problem

no sir no empty mag.... does it with no mag a full mag and anything in between. when it does it while shooting the rounds arent even on the way to the feed ramp.

Did you take it apart at any point? If so, you may have re-assembled it wrong. The most common cause for glocks going to slide lock is when people insert the trigger pin before the locking block pin. There should be two pins(since you just bought it) right above the trigger. When the gun goes back together, you have to put the top(locking block) pin in first. After this, you insert the slide release under that pin and then push the larger(trigger) pin through the trigger and slide release underneath. The holds the spring on the slide release down so that it holds the release lever itself down. If you put the trigger pin and slide release in first, and then put the locking block pin in, the spring on the slide release lever tends to get stuck up above the locking block pin which causes upward pressure on the slide release and locks your slide back almost every time it comes back.

If it's only happening once in a while, this probably isn't the cause, but if it's happening constantly and you've taken your gun apart before, definitely check for this.

oohhh boy... ok lemme rephrase i bought it used. i havn't had it apart any further than slide, barrel and reciever. i bet that is what it is tho... who ever had it before me put an extended slide release and some other shtuff on it.

yeah the spring was over the pin that it is supposed to be under. learn sumthin new everyday :-[ BUT i can honestly say "I DIDN'T DO IT"

Glocks are easier to put together than most Lego kits, but there are a few little quirks like that one that you learn when you're getting familiar with the gun. Glad it's not a problem with your gun. Now go shoot it!
