Here comes Gun control:

I think one of the issues with gun control today is that all we ever get is more gun control. The government never wants to lessen their restrictions on us, they just want to take more away from us. So even if something might in fact be reasonable most of us are at the point where we've drawn our line in the sand and said, "we can't let you guys take anymore from us for whatever reason."

My two cents.

Henry did give me a good idea. I never thought about covering my butt when asking for the DL,. I do think that from now on , I will ask for a CCW permit and if they don't have one they can go elsewhere. I know they have been checked that way. Those without can go to the gunstore and get checked or go get a ccw permit. Just a thought.

Exactly what part of "shall not be infringed" is so freaking hard to understand?

THANK YOU CHILI! ;)

You guys call yourself 2ad supporters- some here need to be sent back to school on this issue. It looks like the liberal media is doing their job and has influenced your thought patterns!

Geez guys  --- Who's side are you on. The people or the Government

The only people I have ever heard these arguments for more gun control/laws are:
Dumbass politicians = clueless people that some of you here keep reelecting :?
Gun dealers Dealers = as mentioned above will mean $ money in their pocket at the expense of liberty. Who cares as long as I get mine attitude.
Law Enforcement/ Now here this! Before some calls me anti-LEO, I AM NOT. I support those who do their job with respect and dignity for the people that have entrusted them with authority - The Public. I do have a deep understanding of the field. Leo would rather everyone not have a gun except themselves- It would make life easier/less risky for them. For LEO's its a control issue. An elite society with authority, guns and the desire to enforce their will.
Remember one day we may have to choose what side we will align with- The Government, military, police or the people.
I want to have the same equipment available to any LEO or military soldier.
That is what our Constitution granted!

It is NOT a complicated subject- Either you are with us or you are aganist us. If you are aginist us - I suggest you go ahead and have a visit with your local LEO - Turn in all your high cap mags and ALL your semi auto, fast acting lever guns, multi load & function bolt actions firearms. Remember- you cannot hide them because everydealer in Americia has your paperwork!
Give me a call I have an old trapdoor you can use to defend yourself with. They served Custer very well  And you can do all your hunting with a hand made bow and arrow, because commericial production of compound bows will be BANNED!

Bottom line - Get off the GD fence and man up!

No Restrictions! check
No New Laws! check
No more Violating My Freedoms! double check

How do I sell a gun to someone I don't know personally without selling it to someone crazier than me by mistake?

Dave: Don't worry about it...Look at me...They let me have guns...

Seriously, all you can do is make a guess...remember, you can't control other people. If a guy buys a gun, the seller can't guarantee what the buyer does with it. All you can do is to make up your mind about the buyer, then, forget about it...

Ditto!

My guns are part of my legacy, when I go to the happy shooting range in the sky I plan on passing them down two my two kids. I even keep this in mind when purchasing my guns and usually buy them in pairs. The last thing I want is to see is my kids having to get them transfered from a dead man.

We live in a free (kinda) and open society, theres a downside to it,but the alternative is much worse. Besides,to make real change you would have to make them in society itself. Much of it would probably limit free speech e.g., violent movies, music, video games and such. Then even at that your not going completely stop it because as everybody knows, you can't fix stupid!

What would be simple gun control if common sense was supreme...

1. You cannot kill another person except in self-defense or the defense of another human life
2. You cannot wound another person except in self-defense or the defense of another human life
3. You cannot display a weapon in a public place except in self-defense or the defense of another human life or in the setting of a sale/storefront for weapons
4. You cannot discharge a firearm except in self-defense or the defense of another human life or at an approved firing range or on private property while obeying due-regard to the safety of others and of consideration of noise ordinances set by local jurisdictions

Crime is a crime and a weapon does not change the crime in any fashion. The first two rules I post are simply to appease those who feel an extra law should be made. All other rules and laws seem silly in comparison.

Think about this one when it comes to law...
It is illegal to break into the home, business, or place of worship of someone else. It is illegal to set afire any building or property that does not belong to you and has an approved burn permit. Why, then, is breaking into a church and setting it ablaze an EXTRA crime? A crime is a crime and a person who breaks into a church and sets it on fire is committing two crimes already, why add a third?

We already have laws that address everything you mentioned- Again I say- We don't need no stinkin new laws.

Those rules I posted really would make sense as the only laws on the books for weapons. Really, though, it is simply a dream...

Thanks Steve.
I want to be a responsible buyer and seller. I also want to preserve the freedoms we have and fight for the ones that have usurped by politicians and the Gnomes of Zurich who would have us unarmed and tractable. I know I can't control people but if push comes to shove I'll just have keep all I buy and shoot 'em.

I understand your point very well. I think the majorty of gun owners would agree with you. Just make a reasonable attempt to make sure the person is "good to go". Meaning they don't reek of booze or smell of dope or seem overly agitated. Check their DL to make sure it is from this state. You have enough common sense to figure out that. When it comes to one's mental state, there is no way you can know that. I mean, we date that kind sweet girl who is fun to be with. Then we marry her and BAM! Honestly, very few of see that one coming!
