Howdy. I moved to the area (Williamston) about 3 years ago from FL. I don't get many chances to get out due to a busy work schedule and being with my 3 small kids in the evening while the Battle Axe (wife) goes to work. Thus, I don't have many shootin' buddies here.

I did manage to infect 2 co-workers with BRD and working on my 3rd.

Williamston looks like a sleepy little town.
do you have any local ranges or gunshops?

Sleepy it is. There is Belton Gun Club, requires a membership though. Pickens has a DNR range.

As far as gunshops go, J&S Gun Depot isn't too far away. I haven't been there myself, but know a couple people who have and seem to like it.

Greetings from Pickens County. I shoot pistols at Allen Arms and have had some experience with IDPA in Greenville, Anderson, and Spartanburg. My favorite is just bullseye by myself. Maybe someday I will feel like I am actually good at it and can get more serious about competition. I reload 9mm, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP. I also shoot .22 LR pistol. I own but rarerly shoot a Savage .17HMR with scope and bipod...my ground hog gun in theory.

I used to shoot at Dove Field but found the pistol range gone that last time I went. Shooting in the heat wasn't fun anyway, so that was very seasonal. Allen Arms opening in Greenville really got me back into it all, but it is almost an hour to get up there.

Small world, I am in Pelzer.

Foothills Pawn in Williamston has a great selection. Chris is also a great guy to deal with.

I was not impressed with J&S, they had mostly archery stuff and were not real helpful when I went in.

White Jones and Grady's (both in Anderson) have huge gun departments.

Greenville Gun Club does IDPA matches on the third Sunday of each month, no membership required.
