I recently moved my family here from Florida. I'm interested in all forms of shooting, however precision bolt action rifles are probably my favorite at this time. I also like AR-10 (size) rifles as well as 1911s. I do a little bit of my own minor gunsmithing on ARs and 1911s and built my custom Savage 110 in my own wildcat cartridge, the 7mm Valkyrie. It uses a necked down and improved 300 Win Mag case with 93 gr of H2O capacity in Win headstamp brass. Drives 180 Berger Hybrids at 3300 ft/sec and 120 Nosler BTs at 3800 ft/sec in my 28" barrel. Can't wait to shoot it at long range for the first time. :D

Looks like the closest >300 yd range to Greevnille is SCOTG in Laurens, is that right?

Thanks for having me!

SCOGT is the only long range club I have heard of in the Upstate, given your definition of over 300 yards (which is pretty long to me).

I know a couple of folks who have bought or built long range rifles recently.
