Attended Fork Union Military Academy (1960-1964) where I first learned about the 1911 and that was about field stripping and cleaning. Then we moved to the M-1 Garand which we lived with for all 5 years of my time there. From 1966 I picked up and learned about the M-14, a weapon I got to know well up through July 1969. I always remembered the 1911, and found that when I finally bought my first one in the 80's, I hadn't forgotten much, at all (so much for the gentle, loving remarks of our Drill Sergeants)
