Dudes, Fellers, Homeys, lend me your ears!

So I'm looking for a good hard side case for my AR. The stipulations are these: It needs an internal width of about 4", due to an offset mount and a big charging handle. Needs to be lockable. Suggestions?

I've got a Plano case that is similar to a pelican, but less than half the price. Mine has 4 draw clasps on the side and 1 clasp on each end. Academy has them for around $100.

I have the Plano Gun Guard case like Matt mentioned. I got I off Amazon for about $100 and cut it out for my Savage 10fp precision rifle. I can't see needing a tougher case, and would consider spending the extra for a pelican unless I was going to deploy with it. Even then I doubt the Pelican is a lot tougher.

I got the 1750 on sale at Midway a few weeks ago for about $179. I was comparing the IM 3100 and 1750 at the time but the sale made my decision for me. When I received the case in the mail, I saw that one of the clasps was broken. I called Pelican customer service and the nice lady in Torrence sent me a whole replacement set of clasps just in case another one got broken. Very happy with their customer service and being that the cases are made in the USA makes the Pelican cases stand out for me. Just used my 1750 to transport a gun and ammo to RDU a couple weeks ago and it worked just fine.

I look at it this way, if you want a cheaper throw away case that the bag chuckers at the airline WILL eventually break then buy the Plano. If you want a case that will break and be covered by a No BS warranty with great customer service, then buy a Pelican. Here is mine with three weapons, 200 .223 rounds in magazines, over 110 rounds of 9mm in magazines and one box of shotgun shells.

I ended up going with Patriot Cases. It fits my AR with it's big dumb offset sight, and worked out pretty well. Thanks for all the advice.

SHAMELESS PLUG: I did a little write up of the case, and put it here http://www.mattburkett.com/547/ Take a looksee, if you've got the time or inclination.
