Today, 164 years ago, John Moses Browning was born to Jonathan Browning and his second of three concurrent wives, Elizabeth Clark Browning. (Nineteenth century Mormons).

Over his lifetime of seventy-one years, J. M. Browning was awarded 128 patents for his remarkable inventiveness in firearms design and development. He succumbed to heart failure in Belgium at Fabrique Nationale (FN) while at the bench in his son’s, Val, workshop (working on a pistol that would eventually become the Browning Hi-Power). He is buried in Ogden, UT.

And speaking of John Browning, something for your bucket list: Visit the Browning Museum in Ogden Utah, perhaps on your way to the national parks in southern Utah ( Brice, Zion, Arches, Capital Reef, etc.). At the Browning museum you will see some of the actual tools that he used to hand make working firearms. His actual pistols, rifles, shotguns and machine guns (the Browning M2 MA Deuce, for example), they are all there. There is also the railroad museum, antique car collection and the western museum. If you appreciate the 1911, your life is not complete without visiting the Browning museum.

One of the world's greatest inventors. German general said "We would have won, if we had John Browning". No greater tribute than from a sworn enemy.
