Handguard too close to comp?

New 3Gun rifle build but still waiting on my new 18" barrel to be shipped in 4 months, so I installed my 16" barrel off my other upper. As you can tell by the pics there is not much clearance from the hand guard to the comp. The hand guard is a AP Custom 15" made of carbon fiber and I wanted to know if the muzzle blast would possibly damage the hand guard? I'm using a Battlecomp 1.0

How would my thumb get hurt? If it's my support hand, I can hardly reach the end since it's the extended rifle length hand guard. Would you recommend a hand stop just in case?

if youre sure youll never get way out there, and dont have monkey arms, youll be fine.

Also, if you're going to put an 18" barrel on there it definitely won't be too close.
