Remington Model 11 for sure.. It has the Poly choke and was produced around 1916-1917 (according to the SN).. You probably want to hold on to it if it has any personal value. The wood is in great shape but it doesn't appear to be original to the gun.

The giveaway is the lack of the magazine disconnect that all Brownings had. It's a little lever on the left side. Flick it and it shuts off the magazine so you could port load a different round. Remingtons didn't have that.

On the model 11, what is the do-hickey hanging down in front of the trigger?
Anyone?
Its the safety. In later years, it was changed to a cross bolt safety behind the trigger guard.
In the one Fegee has, the lever Is pushed forward to fire with the finger.

family guns are sacred. there are some of my grandpa's guns that my dad has talked about selling; if he ever tries there would be a fistfight.

my dad is your size so I would lose but you gotta at least try.

I was at a local gun shop this week. New guy, he's been to every gunsmith school he could go to and built a building that is pretty impressive. The entire interior of the business is a huge concrete gun safe. He was doing very well in business building/repairing guns in the new facility while the oil patch was booming. I was looking for some scope rings to put on a new lever gun in .22 mag I'd bought and stopped in to see what he had. He didn't have enough requests for parts to make the minimum order from his distributer.
Told him to order it for whatever, and I'd pay him to mount it on the rifle. I could do it my self in my sleep, but we have to support these guys until times are good again.
