This weekend, McKinley Training's Gunfighter Course will be held at the Backwoods Quail Club in Georgetown, SC. The Fee is $200.00 per shooter ($50 for Active Military and Law Enforcement). The course will begin at noon on Saturday and will continue through the night and Sunday. The instructors for this course have varying military backgrounds and a myriad of combat experience giving each student an unparalleled understanding of modern combat, and the greatest techniques in use for winning the fight.

This course will cover a lot of ground in a relatively short amount of time. The curriculum includes basic body mechanics refresher, mastering of the isosceles shooting stance, move and shoot, shoot from cover, shoot through loophole, team movements, dynamic breach entry and clear, vehicle interdiction, personnel recovery, executive protection and night-time operations.

The McKinley Gunfighter Course is an advanced training workshop for those with enough experience to work and maneuver (often in close quarters) safely, in teams of four or more. Some military/LE/armed security experience, or experience in the competitive circuit (i.e. IPSC/IDPA) is preferred but not mandatory.

Really??? So for your first post you just let it fly and pimp your goods, dayum you got some balls man.

If I was a sponsor I'd feel like I'd been roofied with this kind of crap going on.

Uhm, Hello! Who might you be, somewhat flashy intro eh? :o

Clicker is right though, it is pretty rude to just drop the reins and get in the buckboard to start hawking your wares. Even moreso due to the fact this is occurring tomorrow and sunday- were we a last minute afterthought for business? You may want to hit the New Member section and post up a howdy first out of courtesy. ;)

Right? If this werent last minute I might have actually signed up. 50 bucks. I can argue with that. Last minute though is crap...

Yet someone from NC makes their first post a huge diatribe about how a random someone on some random forum was talking bad about one of OUR sponsors of all people, and felt the need to join the site from another state just to point that out and how good the product really is, and no one says a damn thing, like THAT isn't just as suspicious as someone joining to bash a sponsor? Could be innocent and straight forward, but it's so damn random it raised my eyebrow. Yet no one is locking that thread until it's cleared up because it was a plus one, not a minus.

What is going on around here???

The shoot first, ask questions later stuff is getting out of hand. Not that I know this McKinley guy or anything, but it's no real stretch of the imagination that maybe he was trying to get some last minute business or what have you, and after a busy training weekend was going to look into a business relationship with the site? If I were him, after this reception, I'd be canceling the check. This type of behavior drives, and is driving, members away. Sure, the OP is guilty of bad timing and posting this in the wrong sub forum, but that's about it. I feel like a site sponsor that offers high level training like that would be a good addition, but instead of the mods/admins reaching out as a representative of the site, it's "And just who are YOU, eh?"

Wouldn't surprise me if the OP never posted here again and I wouldn't blame him

That's exactly the problem - he comes on here and clearly is looking for business without being a site supporter and is directly competing with other PAYING sponsors. Doesn't matter to me if he may approach the owners to become a sponsor AFTER he makes a load of cash by advertising here that's simply the wrong way to do business. It's called forum ethics and this McKinley guy doesn't have any.

On the other hand I do agree with you about some posts (I'm not up to speed on the one you referenced) that could have been handled by the mods in a different fashion. I've seen sponsors come & go, it's a dynamic environment and peoples tastes evolve and feelings get hurt, not much we can do to change the nature of the beast.

I'm gonna play the devil's advocate here so bear with me.....

Clicker ,( or anyone else ) please enlighten me. Who or what PAYING sponser offers a course of this magnitude that this fella is COMPETING with??

I agree his timing sux but hey that's life sometimes. As far as competing with sponsers quite a few of us have done just that in the classified section by selling or offering to sell items that our sponsers sell.

Sadly we have become a forum semi devoted to preserving the 2nd amendment while kicking the crap out of the 1st amendment . Sad, truly sad.

Sorry for the timing all, my group of instructors are all employed as trainers elsewhere or active duty SOF. We get together and put on these courses hoping to help those who work in harms way, and would like a few more tools for their proverbial toolbox. The $50 is a range fee for the property owners. The course is non-profit.

D&R for one offers training albeit not in quite the same category.

My point is not that we as individuals cannot sell things, I'm good with that, it's just that another set of rules governs businesses in my book. Plenty of forums that limit its members ability to post WTS ads until a threshold is meet. We don't have that obstacle here be it good or bad.

It's simply my own view and may not be that of others or the forum ownership.

Ok, you seem to want to complain about our actions no matter WHAT we do around here these days. Not sure what other thread you are talking about, sometimes it is a little tough to keep track of everything around here. Perhaps you would like to run the place? Please by all means take the job, I am sure you can do better than I can for the Admins- or even replace the Admins yourself.

It used to be a nice mellow place but some people are getting downright pissy no matter what. Bunch of ingrates.

See, the fact that you flat out expect us to be grateful towards the site NO MATTER WHAT, no matter how people are treated or what actions are taken, is the problem. "Take this and LIKE IT!!!" This site has a toxic atmosphere and it wasn't created by the members; it started at the division between members and sponsors by the staff.

The thread I'm talking about is Page 6 of the Precision One ammo thread started by MCA.

This site needs fewer moderators, not more.

I don't "flat out" expect nothing! Fine, you're right- don't need your gratitude. But just like veterans who hate to hear armchair generals spout off, People who run and maintain Forums hate the criticism they get in different directions. Like I said, damned if we do and damned if we don't. It can really be a thankless task trying to please everyone. We have hardly ever locked down threads here but get bitched out when we do- other Forums do it on a regular basis and don't give a damn. We have only banned 4 people in over 4 years, with 3 of them after great difficulty and careful deliberation. The most recent one was due to deliberately starting on here with the sole intent of causing trouble. Other Forums issue temporary and permanent bans at will, ruling with an iron hand.

If you have ever been on other Forums you would see this- maybe you are on others that are better and maybe I am wrong. If you haven't been on others, I suggest you look around some of them and see what it is like. As far as this one goes anyone and everyone is welcome to join- and they may leave whenever they like, we're not forcing anyone to stay.

This place was created to be a friendly Gun Forum focused primarily in the South Carolina area. It has been a pretty good place for the most part until recently. Maybe it's the politics, economy, and general condition of this country, but things around here are going plum crazy! It's supposed to be a Forum about firearms and such, can everyone go back to talking about that subject please?

Now I will look at the thread you have pointed out to me. As for fewer Moderators around here, how many do you see? Am I the one too many perhaps, maybe it's because I am an outsider from the northeast? I myself was asked to help out around here, and I gladly accepted. If y'all think I am not doing ok in this capacity, shall we set up a poll as to whether I should be here or not, put the question up and get someone to second the nomination to start it off? Sound off here and I will set up the poll for everyone to cast a vote.

There you have it, Democracy in action for you!

EDIT: I read that thread you referred to. Ok, a new person happens to like one of our sponsors- a lot. What would you have me do? I didn't really see anything fishy, he posted up a lot of detailed info about his experience with their products- no harm in that. He may be one of the many guest lurkers we have on here every day and recognized he happens to already deal with one of our sponsors. Please explain what you think we should be doing around here. Everything has been fine around here for the most part until some recent events. please help us to understand and resolve things.

Not really able to type a detailed reply on my cell phone but in regards to the thread I mentioned originally, I wasn't suggesting you DO anything. I was pointing out how odd I think it is if random people show up to bash a sponsor everyone gets uptight, yet if someone even more random shows up with and even more random story and a plus 1, it doesn't get a second glance.

I have a problem with the pedestal the sponsors are placed on when we as members are forbidden from donating. I have a problem with a thread getting locked BEFORE the research is done. I realize only a handful of people have been banned and recently it was for good reason, and that's fine. It all just resonates from the thread a couple months ago where it was said "we won't have people talking bad about the sponsors" regardless of just reason or not it seemed.

Then, this NEW member posts something, unfamiliar with this forums protocol, and instead of giving him the benefit of the doubt or welcoming his skill level, even the staff is grilling him. The atmosphere has changed here and it's not just among the members.

These are reasons why MY attitude has changed here.

Well I guess things have been a little too tense around here as of late. What with politics, current events, the economy, and personal situations messing with a lot of different people it is sure understandable. Perhaps we can all get over the hump to see a better horizon ahead.

Let's start a new reel and see how things play out, eh? To you and everybody else, may you all enjoy the rest of your weekend on another brand new day today!

"we won't have people talking bad about the sponsors"
I think this (if it's true) is because most of us know and or do business with the sponsors so its natural to come to their defense when the mud slinging starts.

After reading McKinley's second post my outlook is different and had this info been presented first I wouldn't have gotten my knickers in a knot. Twenty years in retail altered the way I view selling & promoting stuff.

Now lets get ready to enjoy the fruits of our hosts and sponsors labor at ShootzenFest. I wonder what kind of cool Tee will be unveiled this time? The Zombie Tee will be hard to beat IMO.
