Gun Lube

I like Otis Dry Lube and Tetra Gun Grease. The Tetra stuff especially is awesome in my C&R guns. It really helped the slide on my Star Modelos Super.

I follow the old rule of thumb on lubing firearms. If it slides grease it, if it hinges or rotates oil it. Red Grease for slide rails and such, and 5W30 for oil. Remember a little goes a long way!

Some of the specialty sprays have a carrier that evaporatves and tackiness additives to help it stay in place, motor oils do not. PTFE "teflon" acts as a wearable in between the surfaces and has proven to NOT stick in place. Some lubes have more rust inhibiting additives in them which help in rust protection as well as additives that promote film strength ( long chain polymers ). Mix your own if you like its all good, I use CLP by habit as it seems to work as well as any.

I have used Militec on my Glock. Applied to all the metal parts I could and fired it on with a hair dryer. Haven't shot a lot, (maybe 600 rounds) but it seems to last a long time and cleans up with a soft paint brush.
