Guide Rod

Can someone tell me if/why, non-captured guide rods are preferred?

only benefit is for swapping springs quickly.

I run a Tungston guide rod in my Glock for 2 reasons. 1: It adds weight to the front of the pistol which soaks up some recoil. 2: Like Ctrus said, it's easier to switch springs
