Surprise! Surprise!, Sen. Lautenberg is going to introduce legislation to require a background check to buy"explosive powder". When are these people ever going to get it!!!. If he had bothered to read the article that probably instructed these guys he would know that you can use anything flammable including match heads. Back to the writing campaign. I really wish these bozos would quit blaming peaceful people for the actions of wack jobs like the Boston bombers. I guess the saying" The price of peace is eternal vigilance" is true. :triniti:

Its all to save the children.

I think they will find the same constitutional fight on powder, and hopefully, it will die like the other anti 2nd ammendments attacks.

I guess diesel fuel and fertilizer will be next? How about gasoline? Oh wait, pressure cookers, galvanized pipe and threaded end caps too.

Yah, just in time so that most won't read that it looks like to Boston Bombers used powder from fireworks. :triniti:

The sad thing about this is that the terrorists used perfectly legal fireworks as their powder source.
I remember back in the day when we had to sign the little spiral notebooks and show ID to buy ammo. It served no purpose except to be a PITA.

What's even sadder than that is the fact that smokeless powder is not explosive. If you put it in a container that will build enough pressure to make it explosive, you will need a forklift to place it. A pressure cooker isn't going to even come close to doing it. There's a reason it's called propellent.

in that case, maybe we need to get the manuf. to stop labeling it as such

The manufacturers are REQUIRED to place those labels on the shipping containers. By whom? Some federal agency. There's your sign. :onthequiet:

Pull a bullet on a rifle round. The bigger the better. Dump it out and light it with a match. You will hear no pop, boom or bang. You'll only some crackling and see a nice orange flame and a bunch of gassy smoke.

Note: DO NOT do this with black powder! :o

Years ago I got curious one night and took a 1/2 cup of titegroup out on the driveway. Lit a match and dropped it on the powder, nothing. Same thing for the second match. Had to let 2 matches struck together burn to a good flame before it would ignite.

Anyone who knows explosives knows that smokeless powder is not a material of choice for explosives, but since when have facts gotten in the way of a political agenda or a lack of subject knowledge stopped legislation. Once again it is not about safety it is about POWER and CONTROL. :triniti:

Somebody needs to do a little powder burn demo during the debate.
Maybe it would turn on the light for some of those ignorant asses.

Or maybe get you looked in jail for the rest of your life for trying to blow up our elected representatives. Don't worry, you will be classified as a terrorist so there will be no trial.

You can't break a totally emotion and ideology based argument with facts or information. You might as well argue with a brick wall, you will probably get further. :triniti:
