Glock 34 Gen 3 or 4

What's with the cutout on the top of the slide on a 34? Is it to reduce weight? Is the barrel ported?

I'm looking to pick one of the up myself but would like to know all of the ins and outs before I do.

yes it's to reduce the slide weight. The barrel is not ported.

They say it makes the slide weigh the same as a G17 4" gun but its still slightly heavier.
