Hey everyone, I am about to buy a new Glock pistol, it will be from the classifieds over there. I have a question though. I am buying a new pistol so I can actually start shooting competition this month. I am probably going with the G35, but I see there is a G24 on OSA as well. Is the Glock 24 ok to use in competition, or will it change your division?

The 24 isn't USPSA production legal. It's a great Limited/Lim10 gun though.

I'd be amazed if it were allowed in IDPA, more than welcome in 3 gun and steel challenge.

The 35 is probably a more versatile choice, but the 24 is way cooler.

I don't think the 24 will fit in the box. But I maybe be incorrect

Fit in what box?

I am gonna start at Hearland most likely, I like the G24, mainly because I don't see too many people with them, and I like being different. lol

So would I be allowed to use it there? Also after a while I plan on trying 3-gun. I am gonna be buying a FN SLP here in a couple weeks.

the box that uspsa says your gun must fit inside in order to be able to use it for competition.

but like i said im not 100% certain on that..

I had no idea that your gun must be able to fit into a special box before you could shoot USPSA.

Certain divisions have specific rules and this is one of them...No GLOCK 24s in production division. No one is going to check at a local match or even most major matches.

GT (tech) is correct regarding the G24 and "the box". There's no reason to shoot .40 in production anyways. It is a much better fit in limited and limited-10.

I shot a long slide GLOCK the other day. It was freakish how slow the slide was. Very cool to watch.

So basically...get the 24.

"the box" referred to above is used primarily for SS, but production guns have to fit too, it's one of the criteria for being granted production legal status. Limited, Lim10, Open, and any 3gun match I can think of are great places to shoot Glock 24's and none of them involve the box.

IPSC standard guns (their version of Limited) have to fit in the box, but in USPSA Limited shooters don't need to worry about it.

Clear as mud?

I have a couple 34's and a 35. I bought a 24 to try for the increase sight radius. It turned put that I was used to the slide/sight speed/flip on the 5" guns so the 24 looked different to me. I think if you started with a 24 you would be happy.

Single stack and production are the only divisions that have a box or weight restriction. The purpose is for you to not be able to use big magwells and other race gun accessories. The G24 is not am approved production gun so you can use it even if you found a way to stuff it in the box.

Well after handling the 24 in person, I think I am going with the 35. The 24 is extreamly big, compared to my G22's. It wouldn't be practical for anything but competition. At least with the 35, I can carry it as my CC gun.

Good call man. The G24 has pretty limited uses, even in competition it really only fits into a few roles really well. The 35 is significantly more versatile. I have one, and I love it.

Yeah I went with the G35. I shot it at the Heartland match on Sunday and I really like it.
