After throwing both the Glock 17 and Springfield 1911 off a 20-story tower, the duo checks for function and accuracy, summing up the results of this extreme challenge. Which gun survives? Which gun thrives? Or do they both fail?

Don't get me wrong, I think that every gun owner should have one 1911, but that Glock 17 did damn good!!! A lot better then most would think.

Verrry verrry cool! I was wondering if they'd have put an 18.5 pound recoil spring in the Springer would that have helped? I am amazed by both of them! I Have a gen 3 19, and a gen 3 17. Id sell the 19 in a heart beat, the 17 stays for good lol.

If they would have dropped a gen 3 G17 and needed to replace the control rod they are $11, the gen 4's are $24.
BL,
That confuses me that you like the G17 but don't the G19. I see them as the same as a 1911 government and a 1911 commander, it's the same gun just shorter.

Don't get me wrong, if it's not good for you then you go with the one that works for you, but I don't see the difference. One has a shorter holster and two less rounds in the mag.

I will back your opinion until the cows come home, I just don't understand it. I guess that is why there is two different models.

I think the difference for me in the Glock 17 vs the 19 is this. the 19 has a shorter grip but to me when they shortened the grip it made it feel wider, at least to me. They both have a grip reduction done by the same smith. The grip on the 19 seems thicker than the grip on the 17. My 6'4" grandson agrees with me. He has big hands and I do not. I love commanders they have the same grip length as a govt model has so it feels the same to me. The officers grip feels odd to me too. Concealment wise between the 17 and the 19 the 19 is definitely easier to conceal. Both good guns just personal preference.

I saw this video, very entertaining for sure. My feelings about the 19 and 17 are about like Bob's, the 19 doesn't feel near as good to me as the 17, I have a G 23 with the RTF2 frame with a Magpul carry magwell and it feels pretty good, the best feeling Glock to me is the 19X or 45, I thought this was an ok idea when it came out, nothing earth shattering but when I picked one up I really liked it more than I was expecting, lot of the youtubers thought this wouldn't do very well but Glock sold if I remember right 100,000 plus in pretty short order
