Glock 19 ejection

I shot my new (to me) Glock 19 at the OKCGC 3-gun match this weekend and it ran pretty well but I noticed some erratic ejection. Brass would go out and back most of the time but also would throw some straight back and into my face. I had one stovepipe during the match. Afterwards, I ran several magazines through it to see if I could duplicate the issue. I had someone watch the brass while I test fired, same thing. Most went back and out but several hit me in the face and about one round per magazine would stove pipe.

Background information:

Â· Gen 3 Glock 19 (Date of Manufacture 2011). Round count unknown but it appears to be very minimal
Â· Factory Winchester white box ammo 115gr FMJ
Â· Ejector #336
Â· Extractor stamped with a #4
Â· Only modification I can see is a 3.5lb connector and a replacement back plate

I called Glock and their recommendation was to shoot a 124gr bullet. That doesnâ€™t really seem like a viable solution. Every Glock I own will run everything I put in it.

Do any of you Glock aficionados have any suggestions?

I have a hard time keeping a good grip on my G19. My little finger is just barely on the grip so I find that my grip is very inconsistent. I just wonder if the same thing is happening to you and that's what is causing the stove pipe. I don't know, just a thought.

My first guess would be variances with the powder loaded in those rounds.

I have a Gen 3 G19. I've never run any 115 grain through it (so this probably isn't much help) but it has never missed a beat on 124 grain bullets on top of 5 grains of Unique.

I agree, poor answer from Glock.

I don't THINK grip is the issue. Although I am not an expert shooter by any means, You and I both attended TDSA together and learned the fundamentals of grip. I am not ruling it out by any means, but I feel it is something mechanical in the gun. Just my 2 cents worth

I agree, poor answer from Glock.

I don't disagree that heavier bullet might solve the issue, but don't think that should be the FIX. This gun should run whatever you put in it

Try a 30274 ejector and a new extractor. They are cheap for a glock anyway.

Burk my G19 throws some brass back at me. I just thought it was a normal Glock. I've never had it choke on anything though and I have ran some 115s through it, both factory and handloads.

I wan't too worried about the brass, but the stovepipes are a big deal

The extractor is easy enough. Have you ever changed an ejector? Are they simple?

It stove piped once on each magazine that I shot after the match.

Were the rounds you were shooting anything even close to factory loads? I ask because my gamer loads aren't but my M&P doesn't care it eats them fine, but I've not shot any of those through my G19.

I'd eliminate ammo and make sure it's broken in good before going off and changing parts.

I have a hard time believing a new Glock won't cycle factory 115 gr

I'd make sure the parts are stock first. Definitely test it with your defense rounds before you depend on it for EDC.
I would give Glock another call and hope to speak to a different dumbass this time

had the stove pipe issue with one of my glocks. looked everything over really good and noticed the extractor was cruddy cleaned it up and it runs flawless agin. Hope this helps with yours

Sounds like it is toast. Bring it down to me and leave it . I'll take the blue wrench to it and bring the scrap back to you. For a slight fee.

UPDATE: Replaced the extractor and the extractor spring (with new factory parts). I then ran about 75-80 rounds of the same ammo (WWB 115gr FMJ) through it for testing purposes since that was the ammo that I experienced the original issue with.

There are no longer any random stove pipes. Most brass ejected back and to the right with an occasional casing coming back.over my right shoulder (about 1/15 )

I also ran some 124 gr. rounds to see what the results would be with a heavier bullet. They all ejected out and to the right and landed in about a 3 foot circle.. Federal Hydra-Shok 124gr also functioned and ejected properly.

i can live with that
