Is the. 2nd any good I got a buddy just open a gun store has it for 399 with one mag is that too much ?

Like I was saying, is it a new leftover, low mileage used, or former LEO pistol? You should ask your buddy about the pistols history, he must know something about it. As far as 2nd Gens go, they are fine- just no rails for attaching goodies to.
 
Also if it has the factory box with the accessories it will add to the price. More than anything, the condition - how many scratches, etc and mags drive the price on Glocks. They are not in the collector category but usually sell quick. If the finish is in decent shape, I would offer $400 out the door. $399 is not a bad price these days and even if you pay tax it will be around $425. If you look around it will take you a long time to find another one at that price.
 
gen 2 doesnt have finger groves on the grip. i got one and didnt notice. for $10 at walmart you can get a rubber slip on grip with finger groves.

works pretty good.
