Glare washing out front sight

My heavy metal RIA 1911 came cerakoted from the factory. Any ideas how to flatten the finish so the front sight doesn't wash out so much in bright sun? Don't think my carbide sight smoker will be a good option.

Sight Black has worked well for me in the past. Some folks like the carbide, others just use a cheap candle to soot it up.

Never tried a CMP pistol match. But my 1911 isn't as issued anyway.

You need a fiber optic Bob. Also, nail polish is cheap, and Sharpies are sometimes free.

carbide or sight black will totally work, unless you got it so hot its emitting black body radiation

Might try blackening them with flat black model car paint. I used some bright orange/red model car paint on the front sight of my S&W 442 snubbie and it's still holding on strong a couple years later.

I've used my old lady's nail polish to blacken sights or add a red dot.
