I recently finished watching Generation Kill. It is miniseries similar to Band of Brothers, except it follows a USMC Force Recon platoon during the first months of the invasion of Iraq. It is based on the book "One Bullet Away" by Nathaniel Fick. I thought it was pretty interesting. Anyone else here seen it?

Saw it and liked it very much. See if you can find "Over-There"---a one-season mini-series from the F/X channel several years ago. Reminded me of Generation Kill a lot. Worth watching.

"Hey! Why are you guys still in your pajamas! It's the afternoon. Hey man watch it guys in pajamas did a pretty good job in Vietnam"

Love generation kill seen them all quite a few times. Stay frosty while I grab a cup of November Juliet lol

I read the book Generation Kill and liked it as another operational perspective of my war. The show, however...I couldn't get past the first episode. Maybe it was the filming style or some of the inaccuracies but I couldn't get into it. Maybe it gets better though.

I read the book as well and thought both were great. Have you read lone survivor?

My Dad is a retired Navy SEAL and UDT Frogman. He gave me his copy of Lone Survivor after he was done with it and told me to read it. A good enough endorsement for me!

I would agree! I was lucky enough to meet Marcus Lutrell many years ago. He was speaking at a small convention. Just an amazing guy. My then girlfriends mother burst in to tears when he came to our table to say hello and speak to us.

Perfect time for him to have said "I usually get that reaction from the ladies...only it's usually after......."

With my back problems from Iraq, it makes me wish they could prescribe some of that opium tobacco Marcus was given to take the edge off

I've been in some bad situations...the fear of total dismemberment being far worse than that of death, but the choice of hanging around waiting to be shot or chucking yourself off a cliff...that's a different class of bad situations.
