Garndfathered(sic) in ?

There may or may not be a ban on semi-automatic rifles. There may not be sufficient support for it in the House, and possible in the Senate. We will see. Call your reps and let them know it isn't acceptable.

Yeah, don't start being defeatist. The house can still shut this down and we can lay the hurt on some senators, too. Let them know that we're watching.

Who knows what will happen now. Of course Noo Yok had to bang their gavel first, they couldn't wait for Obama and Congress. Perhaps it just might come back to bite them in the rear- Lord knows they deserve it. We will all have to see how this plays out, it could also come down to the various states following Noo Yoks lead and coming up with their own legislature. Probably won't be bad for y'all but who knows about everywhere else. Something else came to mind earlier today that somebody else might have mentioned. State reciprocity for your licensing with CWPs and general firearms transport for hunting purposes will be anyone's guess now until there are clearcut statements.

I guess it is all a waiting game while everyone writes and e-mails their respective reps and powers that be...

If Fienstein gets her way there won't be any grandfathering in. I bet there will be a lot of people that find out their guns were stolen though.

I'll give you $75 for it. I mean, since they will be confiscated soon I'll only get to shoot it a few months, right?

Gee, thanks for letting me know

Really, cross that when we get to it shall we?

Dude, have some faith! I highly doubt they are going to be able to pull it off. I mean, look at Obama's best shot at using his Executive Orders...which did pretty much absolutely nothing. They are going to bluster a lot more but in the end, I dont' see them accomplishing much at all.

besides, your NFA AR is an Assault *Rifle* not an Assault Weapon - the select-fire versions look like they'll still be perfectly legal (albeit expensive and more involved to buy and sell). You'll only be able to have 10-round mags for it, of course...

Seriously, we all need to talk to our representatives in DC and state legislature. www.narila.com has info. Also, Tom Gresham's Gun Talk podcast gives very good instructions on how to word our letters. They need to be reminded of the politicians that lost their jobs after the Clinton gun ban for voting for it.

That's the wrong link. Here is the right one: http://www.nraila.org/get-involved-loca ... -reps.aspx

Using that, you can write ALL your reps at once, State on one form, Federal on the other. It is TOO EASY not to do. In 3 minutes you can write state and federal officials who you fall under.

I have heard NOTHING during all this talk about NFA items and the ATF. It's highly regulated anyway, more so than the firearm industry. Please, PLEASE be quiet about it. Most Dems think automatic weapons and silencers are illegal, based on the debates alone. DO NOT give them any more fuel, like removing dangerous "assassin" gadgets, silent death attachments known as silencers from legality.

Thanks for posting the correct link. And sorry if I caused anyone to go to the wrong one. But if we all contact our reps, and convince our neighbors, friends and relatives to contact them also, we WILL make a difference. Politicians want votes more than anything else. If they are receiving tens of thousands of letters, phone calls and emails, they will listen. Most of the ones I know have no interest in coming home and getting a real job. They need to be reminded of that.
