G34 slide locking ever shot

Spent quite a bit of time at the range yesterday and after 50 rounds or so on the G34 the slide lock came up and locked the slide every shot. I let my right handed buddy shoot it and he was able to keep some pressure on the slide lock and the gun ran smoothly. Me being a lefty, that didn't work so well.

So where to start? I am thinking clean the pin and check the spring for gunk/wear?

Gotta work on your grip, brah.

Yeah, I would take the thing apart and make sure nothing is gummed up and that the slide stop spring isn't bent out of whack.

Did you try various mags as well?

Dump the factory extended slide stop. I had the same issue with my grip. Pressure from my hand would lock it back.

Probably so. Had a buddy with an intermittent slide lock issue, spring was about the locking block pin not below.

This most happens from what Adam said, the grip popping up and pushing the slide lock into engagement. Try shooting it one handed and see if it happens

Thanks for all the replies!

While I'm not ruling out grip 100%, I do no believe that is the issue. I shoot lefty, had a buddy shooting righty, and it was happening some when dry firing at the range. I also did try all 4 mags that I had and happened with all.

I will strip it this week and inspect the spring and mounting pin!
