Hi all long time no talk for me but here I am today.
Want to get opinions on a Glock 34 I am really wanting one but wonder if they are really worth the extra over the standard 17.
Let me know all thoughts.
Thanks

Come out to some of the matches and shoot both before you buy. You're more than welcome to shoot my G17 and there are always several G34s there.

the price difference is minimal, you are not talking about a price difference between a glock and STI. You would be hard pressed to find too many people that like the 17 over the 34.. so just drop a couple of more dollars and get the 34, i have never heard anyone say "man i wish i would have gotten the smaller, less accurate, not as cool version of my gun"!!! hahhah

I have shot both extensively. I currently own 3 g34s... And prefer them hands down over the g17.

Aikido, if I remember correctly, you have a pretty nice G17 that you got from a really super-cool guy about a year ago...

Lemme know if you sell the 19. I may be interested. I'm trying to sell a SW 13-3 competition PPC revolver package right now. If it sells, I was going to buy a 19... Good to hear from you.

BTW, if you get another, get a 34. I have a 17L and love it. The 34 is basically the same gun, just a bit shorter to meet the specs of several different shooting match requirements.

If u have shot a lot of rounds thru a 17 it may take a little time to get used to the 34. They cycle a tiny but slower. I started with the 34 & 35 models and attempted to move to the 6" 24 model and it was a very noticeable difference in sight recovery timing. I'm not saying one us better or faster than the other. They are just different. So be prepared to shoot a bit to get used to the difference.

Thanks for all the feedback. I am not sure what I will do. I probably should put the money into ammo and practice, practice, practice instead of concerning myself with another gun that can't shoot itself. ShooterDave if I decide to sell the 19 I will certainly let you know thanks for asking and good talking to you (by the way did you rid yourself of that TRP thought I saw it up for sale).
Thanks again for all the help,
Aikido

Well, for what it's worth, I would say that either are great guns. Having had the 17 before and having the 34 now (along with a 19,) I can say that I would probably go with the 17 if you had to pick one for general all around use. My reasoning is that:

1. It costs less. More money for ammo and other goodies.
2. Practical accuray isn't really that much different. In fact, I'd almost say that accuracy is worse (for me) from the 34.
3. Holsters abound for the 17 size family. Not so much for the 34. Seems like the extra length causes problems to holster manufactures.
4. A little easier to carry concealed. Espescially IWB.

If competition is your agenda, then get the 34 and you'll be happy. Or just practice that much more with your 17.....6 of 1, half dozen of the other. Just my .02.

sight radius was the seller for me. You put a set of warren/sevigny or dawson's on a 34 and it opens the world up in front of you while your shooting.
